Well, after many years of knife collecting (and using) I have weakened and taken delivery of my first Chris Reeve Sebenza. :D
It is a small Sebenza with an "acoustic" laser etch on one scale (guitar strings, bridge and soundhole).

The favourable exchange rate between the US and Australian dollar helped in the decision, as did the unfailingly favourable commentary about CRK knives here in BladeForums.

What a superb knife! I have run a micrometer and a loupe over the whole knife and can't fault it.

The action is silky smooth, easy, and the blade locks into place with a very satisfying 'click'.

Happy day! Now comes the decision as whether it will be an EDC or a safe queen.

EDC it! It's the only way to truly appreciate it:

Congrats, and welcome to the club!

Congrats! I say use it! I really want to pick up an acoustic seb one of these days

Use her!

I've been carrying my small sebenza a large majority of the time and using it since I got it back in July. You'll love it even more, trust me :)

Congrats on the new Seb! Make her your EDC for sure.

I have been wanting one for the longest time but was curious wether the inability to tighten the pivot would cause issues when bringing it through Australian customs, did yours get the checked by Australian customs leaflet?

Obviously you had no problems so I might have to start looking into it again, I really do like the small Seb with micarta and the Star-benza.......

I got my small Sebenza with damascus blade two days ago and had been using it for food preparation (primarily cutting off the stems of vegetables) two days straight. I cut about two pounds of vegetables every day. Nice knives make your daily chores much more enjoyable.

Use it and help spread the gospel. Most folks who "knock" the Sebenza, have not even held one.

Excellent score.

Congrats! I wish you well to own it and use it.........:)

Sorry for the busy picture, but it has the better shot of my new Wilson Combat 'StarTac' Umnumzaan I bought in September. I used a special occasion as my excuse for such an extravagant purchase. Oddly, I had handled the regular 'zaan and liked the large plain Sebenza more - thinking it would be my first CRK, if I ever got in a position to afford such a wonder. Only dress up Sebbies were available locally... then I saw the Wilson Combat 'StarTac' 'zaan - and 'thought' I had to have it. It arrived in two days - and I knew I had to have it - what a knife!

It is beautifully made - and sharp to a fault - a real joy to own, to fondle, but mostly, to use. I carry it, admittedly in a sock, as an EDC. I am blessed to have been able to afford such an extravagance. As they now have a similarly handled small Sebbie available, I need another 'special occasion'... maybe just because it is Wednesday? Yep, they are nice... maybe I'll bask in the glow of my first CRK for a while.

Congrats to the OP - and other 'first timers' - we finally understand...

It won't flick open - although I have a letter from ACS stating that the Sebenza is a flick knife - go figure. But I've had an Axis lock come thru recently without a PTI so all I can say is that ACS is very inconsistent. You might want to wait until after 26 Nov.

Jimbo, I had serious reservations about Australian Customs, everytime I spoke to a different officer re the Sebenza, I got either a non committal or different answer.
I made sure that the seller declared the correct value of the knife on the Customs declaration, and paid extra for insurance in the event of loss. As far as I can tell, the package was opened and resealed, I assume by Customs, but there was no stamp or other indication it had been examined.

In the end, my desire to own a CRK and the swollen piggybank overcame my reluctance to risk the confusing Customs regulations.

Now that I have it (after a worrying three weeks in transit) they can pry it from cold dead hand! :D :D

Congrats on your new Sebenza, BlueyM. I just picked up my first Sebbie too . . . a large plain 21. It's not nearly as fancy as yours, but it works exactly the same. And you're right, antonio. Now I know what the fuss is all about. Like Stainz, I feel blessed to have been able to afford such an extravagance.
