I loved the new Shootout when it came out and promised myself that if they came out with a drop point blade I would get one, so here I am! CPM Cru-Wear with a Dark Earth PVD finish. I thought I would post some photos of it along with a couple of other similar knives I have:

So far, the Shootout is my favorite. Lightest of the three - almost half the weight of the Hogue, though I really like that blade. It has the best(easiest) deployment and retraction of any OTF that I have.

The Shootout is the only one with a "centered" blade, if that matters. I think the Shootout and his new buddies are all great knives. It looks like my new Shootout is going to replace my current favorite EDC, the Taggedout.

Well, I have been carrying and using my new Shootout for about a month now. I use it for the standard stuff like opening packages, cutting cardboard, rope, etc. Since it’s in my pocket when hiking my trails, it also sees use cutting vines, small branches and other vegetation. I was concerned about the finish on the blade, but after a clean up it still looks brand new and is sharp.

For those of you who think OTF knives are some kind of toy or gimmick, let me tell you - my Shootout is probably the most practical and easiest to use of the many knives I have. That’s why it is my current EDC.

I like the blade shape in general on this but don't care for the swedge. IMO, a swedge on a drop point looks bad.

If one were to grind straight down into that spine until the swedge was gone, you'd have a pretty good looking clip/bowie blade.

I don’t think I’ll be doing that but thanks for the “tip”😃
