My new SOCFK spear point

I just received a spear point SOCFK from Steve at Extreme Outfitters and I must say it's an impressive knife. I have compared it to my tanto Specwar which is only a month old and they are 2 completely different knives.

The SOCFK has a VERY thick stop pin, it looks a fraction thicker than the type Benchmade use.

The blade is slightly shorter than the Specwar (1/8th inch approx) and the handle is also shorter by a fraction.

The SOCFK has wider washers.

The liner is more recessed than on the Specwar and each scale is contoured the same for more of a pistol grip which is very comfortable.

The ball detent is easily the best of any Emerson I have seen, it is even better than the one on my Microtech. Most Emersons I have seen have fairly weak ball detents.

The thumb ramp is a beauty! The grooves on the back of the blade match up perfectly with the grooves on the scales and liners. It has the best thumb ramp of any knife I own by far.

The thumb disc is slightly thicker than the ones on my other Emersons which aids in a better opening when not using the wave. The disc is easy to get to due to the more rounded index finger well.

The back of the tang has a slight groove in it similar to the Benchmades where the stop pin comes into contact with the tang.

Comparing the 2 knives in the hand is interesting. The SOCFK is slightly shorter than the Specwar and I expected the SOCFK not to fit my large hands as well as the Specwar. The opposite is true. I couldn't work out why this was so until I noticed that the SOCFK has a larger palm swell in the middle of the handle and combined with the better finger well it makes for a very comfortable grip. It is as good as my Commander and maybe better.

The blade is a great simple design. It has "SOCFK-1A" etched on the blade. I'd like to see model names/numbers on the other Emerson's as well, It's a nice touch. The perfect duty carry folder for any law enforcement officer. It doesn't look as menacing as the Commander which helps when dealing with Sheeple.

Overall, I think this knife is a beauty. Thanks to Emerson and you guys my bank account has been further dented!

Cheers

Peter

PS The serial number on mine is 084. How many Spear points did they make? Will Emerson be making any more SOCFK's after this initial first batch?

The SOFCKs are great. I especially loved the attention to detail paid to this model.

There are one hundred Spearpoints and two hundred Tantos.

All the comments regarding the availability of the SOCFK say that EKI has an exclusive contract with Extreme Outfitters for one year.
That either means that they will be making the knives for one year and then stop(that would be tragic), or that after one year they will be available from other sources. Let's hope the latter is true.
But in any case, it is implied that there will be more SOCFKs produced, at least for a year.
Ernie tends to put serial #'s on the first run of new models.

Congrats..on the new addition!

It's a great knife for utility uses....

I hear OZ has pretty strict knife laws?!...

We sure have HC LEO, and they're only getting worse. The current Victorian Government has legislation up for review stating that ALL sheath knives will be banned, ALL tanto knives will be banned, ALL one hand opening knives will be banned. If these laws come in it will be a sad day indeed for law abiding citizens. I am in law enforcement and can get an exemption but that is not the point. These laws are being discussed to bring into line some yobbos and gang members who hang out at night clubs and railway stations.

Cheers

I hear you...I read in American Handgunner mag. a while back they are considering banning knives that look dangerous....next they'll ban the dangerous looking car,bus,truck,fork,spoon....yada yada yada

We are in the beginning stages of something similar in our country but pertaining to OUR RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS.
