Ordered myself a SOG as a birthday present...finally arrived today and I am ''thrilled'' to end the unbearable 9 day wait. Overall impression is that it's a well built, solid tool. I know it's a tad small but it's a great size/weight for backpacking or even EDC. I barely notice it's there when it's on my belt...I have knives heavier then it is.
The sheath is acceptable, but I have a feeling I'm going to put together something better for it, I prefer a top load for one thing. (for those who don't know it goes over the head and has three snaps on the bottom holding it together)
Added about 25' of 550 to it, the handle is really slender, and another maybe 8' of camo 550 in a second layer at the bottom. The ''knob'' of camo 550 feels great, acts as an achor when using a choked-up grip and a solid ball to grasp onto when using a bottom of haft ''chopping'' grip.
I can't wait to try it out, will let ya'll know how it performs...I plan on torturing it to see if it will hold up, so this should be interesting.
If I remember the paperwork correctly it's 19 ounces and 2'' blade, 12'' overall length.
and yes it's sharp from the factory...(note to self, leave the bloody sheath ON when wrapping the haft!)
