Been a while since I was on here. I have been busy with work (L.E. and my sideline gunsmithing) and family. I just got this new blade last Saturday.

Just got in my blade for special uses :) . This blade is called Ginunting and is the official blade of the Filipino Marines. This blade part of the Filipino Marines combat load. They have relied on this blade when they had to fight hand to hand / blade to blade with the muslim extremists in the Philippine Islands.

Tests on some chunks of meat coming up soon. ;)

Here she is (20" blade, overall 26.5") :

imagining what that would do to flesh gives me the shivers.
It is absolutely stunning however.
Where did you get it?

I saw an article in the May issue of Tactical Knives. Called up and talked at length with Ron K. Very knowledegable guy and a practitioner of the F.M.A..
I have been looking for the Ginunting for a while. Finally found the real deal.

PM sent.

Gorgeous stuff, BA. Congrats:D

by the way, how's the gunsmithing stuff going for you?

Thanks! The gunsmithing has been a real surprise, in a good way :). Various L.E. guys and gals, plus military, and citizens have been keeping me busy. With my full time job at R.P.D., and the gunsmithing, plus the drifting competitions that I participate in, I'm quite occupied.

Thanks for asking. :D

Very nice blade!!! :D

Where did you get that??

ebay :) got it from a guy in london who was liquidating his collection, also got a pinuti, two garab knives and a talibon from the same maker (jun silva) in seperate auctions for a. nobody else bid on them, was 2 yrs. ago. i gather they come from a village in the phillipenes where these are traditionally made. (sm. bolo at bottom of 1st pic was from elsewhen)

How do you rate the CS Barong? I have thinking about getting one but have wondered if it is a user or a display piece?

The C.S. Barong is not a bad blade. I got it on sale last year for 1/2 off the regular price. The blade cuts really well. The heat treatment of the blade is great. Tried it on pork ribs and chunks of beef and pork. No damage to the edge. My only complaint is that the handle is a tad bit thicker than the original Filipino made Barongs.

Thank you for the info ... I have seen the CS offering for about $105 on that well know auction site but there always seems to be a new HI offering that catches my eye and gets purchased instead.;)
