Thanks to my wife giving me a Southard and a Sage 2 for Valentine's day, I've decided to give up my beloved Benchmades, and William Henrys for a while, and go over to the dark side and carry only Spydercos.

I'd never been Spyderco fan, having previously owned a bunch of them and never having really clicked with them (I found them overly bulky, clunky, and oddly styled--the Sage knives, for example, are huge in the pocket for how little blade you get).

The Southard alone is rapidly forcing me to admit that I like some Spyderco offerings. The oversized, clunky shape that I disliked on their midsized knives is a blessing when it comes to finding a tiny Chicago-legal knife that you can actually get enough of a grip on to have it be useful for anything. I ended up adding a CF Kopa to the mix, and I really like it. I always thought the BM 707 was the smallest useful knife I'd ever want to carry, but with the little mini-choil setup on the Kopa it's easy to get four fingers on it if you want to use it for something that requires any force.

So this is what I'm carrying now, every day. I'm pretty happy with these guys, though I'm finding it difficult to get the Sage 2 much pocket time at this point. It feels about the same in the pocket as the Southard, and if they carry the same it's hard to skip over my now-favorite Southard. Here are the only knives I'm carrying:

Long story short, Spyderco is growing on me like fungus. It pains me to say it, but I think I'm actually becoming a Spyderco fan.

I looks like your EDC rotation is similar to mine. I set aside 3 knives every week, a large, medium and small folder. Every week I change the knives and I have been trying to have all three knives come from the same manufacturer. This week for me it has been the Gayle Bradley, Sage 1, and Pingo. I have more Spydercos than anything else so it's the company that sees the most pocket time. I do have a BM 943 on the way so next week it might have to be BM. Let me know if you feel like off loading any of the W&H's. :)

BTW, I love that CF Kopa. I need to try and get my hands on one of those.

The Kopa came in a whole bunch of versions, now that I have this one in hand I think I might have to find a few more for variety's sake. It weighs the same as a BM 707 (2.55 oz on my scale) and feels about as big in the pocket (not quite as long, but wider) but has the advantage of being <2.5" blade length for when I'm in Chicago. It's a dressy little knife, I'm loving it so far.

I love the 940 series, I have two of them. I could easily live on just a 940 series knife, especially a pretty gold class version if I ever manage to buy one.

The William Henrys (E6 and E10 currently, but I'm also considering a B12 Backwoods if I can find one) are really nice. I bought and sold a Sebenza, hoping to be as entranced by them as everyone else and ending up disappointed, but the William Henrys aren't going anywhere ;)

Congrats on your new knives. Very nice mod on the flipper.
If you like CF Kopa, may be you should consider Damascus CF Caly3 (Kopa on steroids. 3" blade). It was sprint. Almost all dealers sold out, still much easier to find than Kopas. And IMHO it is very elegant knife.
