That's right $320.

The place with the name of the river that runs through S. America had a good price - $178

Anodized standoffs - $20

After sharpening this bad boy on my Sharpmaker it got super sharp - nasty. Four stitches in my thumb at urgent care this morning - $120

Sorry, no action pics. Couldn't get the blood to stop. First time Spyder guy so just trying to play a little too fast and didn't get my thumb out of the way soon enough.

I feel ya.... I have a Spyderco Ambitious that cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of $400.

Nice price on the stitches :D Haven't gotten nicked by any of my Technos yet..

Yeah 30 bux each. I should've just used superglue and duct tape :)

Wait, people do something ELSE for stitches? I thought the ol' glue-n-duck was standard practice...

:D

The Techno is a little shy at first. She'll warm up to you.

Maybe once I get that fugly blue back spacer out and fit her with the pretty Blue anodized spacers she will chill out!!!

Seriously how do you feel about her now?

When my kwaiken bit me I couldn't pocket her for months. Only recently shes back in the rotation.

That makes me appreciate living in the UK with our free national health, on the down side a Techno would cost me £238 or $377 which is why i do not have one.

Sorry, but I had to LOL when I saw the OP's post. Nothing like a sharp Techno and some mindless open-close flicking for efficient thumb tip removal...I did it to my right thumb TWICE in within a month when mine was newer! I feel your pain...literally!

Fortunately mine wasn't bad enough to go to the ER...just dunked the cleanly sliced, bleeding appendage in a small bowl of alcohol (hurts way worse than the actual cutting), slathered antibacterial ointment into the wound, taped the whole mess closed (and of course, having to repeat the painful bandaging/cleaning process many times over the course of a week to prevent infection). Sigh!

I think the thing is with the Techno...that several things conspire to achieve this bloodletting...

1) First and foremost (in my case) liquor and inattention were involved.
2) That heavy little blade swings even more freely in the pivot than some bearing equipped flippers!
3) When the blade is closing...and at even 90degrees, you better have your thumb tip completely clear of the scales!
4) The strong detent (on most Technos) which allows the blade to fire like a rocket, will also aid in sucking the last centimeter of blade arc into the handle completing the miniature, guillotine like, thumb tip removal.

Anyway...hope you heal quickly and completely, and become better acquainted in a less painful way, with the operation your new $320 Techno.

Honestly I am very respectful now. I can't really play with it now until my thumb feels better. This is the sharpest I've ever had a knife and it is scary. No more mindless flicking for me anymore.

Wow, thats so awesome that all those doctors work for free. And the drug companies. And the construction companies that build the hospitals! Everybody has health care and nobody has to pay for it! Thats so cool! hehe :)

Nice knife OP! At least you know you are using the sharpmaker the right way. ;)

Well of course we pay for the NHS but it is stopped at source from our earnings so we do not notice it ( to much ) . What it does mean is that if we need hospital treatment say after an accident we are picked up by ambulance ( sometimes an air ambulance ) and we do not have to worry about the bill. Private health care is available but that is mainly for jumping the queue for non life threatening operations. We also have what are known as Health Tourists who try to make use of our ( free ) NHS.

If they stopped our knife buying money at source i would definitely have a Techno.
