I just got a starmate off the exchange forum and WOW, what a knife. I have just retired my AFCK M2!!! I've had spydercos before, but just enduras and delicas and a Goddard LW, but this starmate is one solid knife. Sorry, I know I am stating what everyone over here already knows, but I am new to high-end knives and usually over on the handgunning forums. I'm looking forward to learning more over here. Just ordered a sharpmaker too.
cheers,
Derek

Starmate is one fine knife. And it isn't even the best spyderco(for me)! Blade is a bit too thick for my taste, its a bit too blade heavy, hollow grinded... but it still gets more and more pocket time!

I agree. The Starmate is a fine knife. Perfect combination between tactical and utility. That and the Native especially are hands down my favorites. However, contrary to the previous poster, I tend to prefer my blades hollow-ground. I don't mind the blade-heaviness of the Starmate, since overall the knife is extremely light for its size.

I've had more paper cuts than cuts from knives, but the knives are QUICKLY gaining!

This is a FNG quiestion, but what does "hollow ground" mean?
I know chisel ground (I have a benchmade/emerson as well) but hollow ground? Something to do with the process maybe?
thanks in advance,
