Hello everybody

It's my first post here at BF after a loooong time learning and enjoying. Why here in the custom&handmade? Because I'd like to share some of my happiness due to my new knife, made by a friend custom knifemaker named Angel Corts.

I live in Catalonia (Spain) and here we don't have as many knifemakers as in other countries. My experience with custom/handmade knives is thus limited. Nevertheless, at last I've been able to add a new custom member in my small knife crew, the Tanbowie.

The design is a blend of the traditional bowie features and the modern tanto.... Yes, it's meant as a fighter, but I will undoubtedly use it as a general purpose knife.

It has a powerful visual impact, due to its wide blade and different grinds. The robust dual guard contributes greatly too. 440C steel and black canvas micarta for the handle are enough guarantee for a hard use knife I guess.

The blade is 5mm thick, full tang. This makes it very fast and easy to handle. The sheath is made of 4mm thick leather, and I think it's a perfect match for the knife. Made by my friend too:

I hope you like it, thank you for watching and greetings from Catalonia.

That is pretty neat. I've never seen anything like that before. Thanks for sharing. The closest thing I've seen to that was a custom bowie with the point of a hissatsu. Hissatsu is probably not the correct name for the tip style in Japanese terms - I forget right what it's called right now - but it is a point where the kissaki goes back at a very acute curvature and the yokote starts at roughly half the length of the entire cutting edge.

Man, that knife is a bruiser. The sheath is amazing too. Looks bombproof. The guard looks like an Applegate Fairbairn/John Ek or something like that. Very comfortable looking handle too.

That is well executed! I really like the grinds! Looks like a very effective and unique fighter. Thank you for posting....

Thank you gentlemen for your kind welcome and words.

I keep admiring the wonderful knives in this thread every now and then, and I'll try to make a humble contribution with the custom/handmade knives I have.

I believe handmade knives have a soul, and you feel the difference when holding one. At least I do.

Thanks again, I'm very glad you liked my Tanbowie, it's by far my favourite fighter (and my only custom fighter)

Greetings from Catalonia ;)

Hi again, it's indeed very sharp. There are two bevels on the spine. The closest to the guard is very strong for hard cutting, and helps preserving the main edge.

I like that a LOT !!! Great blade. You should sell plenty of those.

Thanks, but the knifemaker is my friend Ángel Corts. He sells in very limited quantities. I can count the existing Tanbowies with my 10 fingers :-), and all of them are different.

He recently sold a beautiful Tanbowie, with stag handle and a bigger blade, and he has one for sale with the blade treated with acid, to avoid light reflections. The sheath is slightly different from mine,( even more beautiful and silent I daresay)

I'm very glad that people from other countries value our knifemakers, thank you very much!
greetings from Catalonia
