I received a Cuda plain edge tanto Dominator I won on Ebay yesterday and thought I'd share some observations of the pros and cons of this particular sample.

Pro's - SV30 blade, titanium frame lock, positive robo-action, great lockup.

Cons - Blade not centered and not shaving sharp out of the box.

On a personal note, I love this knife. It's relatively thin, relatively light and the overal size is just about perfect. I really love the blade shape. I just wish I could center the blade - which I can't because when I try to tighten or loosen the pivot the whole damn thing rotates. Anybody have any suggestions?

Good Luck with the Dominator...

I have the Tanto version too and love it. When I first got it , I couldn't imagine another knife being made as intricate as the Dominator. Did you see inside of the handle , the way the spring is fitted ? It's an amazing piece.

The blade on mine is pretty well centered so I've never had to mess with the pivot, maybe Mr Ralph or someone with experience will see this and help. I had a similar problem with my SOG Trident but applying pressure with my thumb on the opposite side held it enough for me to move the pivot.

I was able to apply enough pressure to hold the pivot but unfortunately it didn't help. I think I'll try putting another washer on the rubbing side for clearance. But I already totally love this knife. I'm really glad I was able to snag one.

Yes they are getting real scarce, I was thinking of getting another in a different blade shape , but I keep finding Tantos.. So I bought a "Heat" as a beater, also a great knife.

i too like the dominator and the heat. i was lucky enough to snag a special non-assisted dominator made for AG Russell. very nice!

I can take some pictures this weekend but I don't know how to post them. I can email them if you want.

Well, I'd recommend getting a photobucket account and uploading them there. The rest is easy, and I can explain how to post pictures within a post. Basically, you get the URL of the photo you uploaded, and hit the little mountain/sun button inbetween the cross over the chain and the chat bubble. Then paste the url into it and hit enter.
