I was extremely lucky lately to pick up my first BK6 from a large auction site. Based on what they usually go for and my winning bid I was almost convinced I would be disappointed or worse, taken. Seller did a good job of communicating and when the postal service tracking indicated it would be delayed for 9-10 days he made calls to track it down and it got delivered on time yesterday. It is the first 6 I've ever handled and I've got to say I love it.
It wasn't very sharp so first things first. Didn't take long to put a very sharp convex edge on it.
Cleaned it up with a scotch pad and some frog lube for a couple glamour shots before getting to work.
Some easy delimbing of a Christmas tree. Easy peasy.
Chopped up some branches for kindling and got a fire going.
I whacked the hell out of some limbs and downed branches up to 3+" and really found it to bite deep and clean. Usually I would do this kind of work with a 9 or more than likely my Cincinnati 4 which is my go to yard blade. Man I love this 6. My blades get used, which is just as well because even though this came with the original box, the shipper decided to save on wrapping and just wrapped the box with USPS tape. So while the box is intact and structurally very sound, taking the tape off ruins the outer finish. Oh well.
I'm not too worried about the box, this 6 isn't going anywhere.
