I was extremely lucky lately to pick up my first BK6 from a large auction site. Based on what they usually go for and my winning bid I was almost convinced I would be disappointed or worse, taken. Seller did a good job of communicating and when the postal service tracking indicated it would be delayed for 9-10 days he made calls to track it down and it got delivered on time yesterday. It is the first 6 I've ever handled and I've got to say I love it.

It wasn't very sharp so first things first. Didn't take long to put a very sharp convex edge on it.

Cleaned it up with a scotch pad and some frog lube for a couple glamour shots before getting to work.

Some easy delimbing of a Christmas tree. Easy peasy.

Chopped up some branches for kindling and got a fire going.

I whacked the hell out of some limbs and downed branches up to 3+" and really found it to bite deep and clean. Usually I would do this kind of work with a 9 or more than likely my Cincinnati 4 which is my go to yard blade. Man I love this 6. My blades get used, which is just as well because even though this came with the original box, the shipper decided to save on wrapping and just wrapped the box with USPS tape. So while the box is intact and structurally very sound, taking the tape off ruins the outer finish. Oh well.

I'm not too worried about the box, this 6 isn't going anywhere.

KEEP EM SHARP

Its a beauty. Such a great deal.

I knew there was a good chance it was real. The fake BK6 has straight slotted screws, not Allen heads. I could see what looked like Allen heads in the picture you posted the other day.

Great to see you enjoying it.

It's for slapping a round sanding disc on the side. I don't use it since I only use this 1x30 for knives.

Congratulations - I am on the hunt for a NIB BK6 myself (how did I miss that one?). Enjoy using it.

Wow...nice score, you lucky SOB!
Thanks for sharing an even more, thanks for actually using it!

I feel really lucky considering the price. As for using it... I was raised on a farm and for the most part it's kind of embedded in me that if I don't think I'm going to use something I have a hard time justifying to myself buying it, and most especially knives. I bought a Crowell Barker Competition chopper about a year ago that I haven't even taken a swing with 'cause it's just too darn pretty. I need to get that knife out and give it a workout.

There was never a doubt about the 6 though. I couldn't wait to see how it handled compared to my 4, 9 and 21. Love it and will continue to use it.

Another +1 jealous / green with envy! These never sell in Europe so with import and shipping, costs a small fortune!!

very nice :D

just don't chop xmas trees...

blows the warranty...

Dang, you're on to me. I thought sure if I chopped a Christmas tree and chipped the blade, I could get a replacement with a new box, cause my box is messed up. Shoulda waited til it was colder. ;)
