Awhile ago, I received my first Kelly Black Prince. A swamping or swamper pattern. She came straight from Canada from a Gentleman named Garry. It finally warmed up enough for me to get out in my garage to hang her today.

The head weighs 4 Lbs. 1 oz.

Total weight is 5 Lbs. 7 ozs. I use Swel - Lock on all my wood wedges. A few drops down in the kerf and a liberal dose on
each side of the wedge before I drive it home. I've never had a head come loose when I use it.

The octagon handle is from Tennessee Hickory Handles. It is a little thicker handle than the ones I get from House Handle .com
It has a coating of wax on it. I'm going to have to work on getting that off. I would like to stain the handle a darker color.

Thanks for looking, Tom

Very nice job!
You may wish to rephrase that opener line to: "I've never had a wedge come loose when I use it". Handle and wedge integrity becomes immaterial if they are locked into place and then the wood itself shrinks. The idea of proud hafts and non-set wedges is definitely something to consider if you happen to live somewhere where humidity and temperature varies considerably.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I was really happy with the way she turned out. A Black Prince is a nice addition to my Kelly collection.
