After all this discussion about the SOG NV-70 Night Vision I came to the conclusion that I really really needed one (yeah right:rolleyes: ). Anyway, about 9 days ago I finally gave in and bought myself one. Now that I can hold it in my hands I think I can finally understand what Robbie and Ron are talking about.......This thing is awesome!!!! Why is it awesome? well for one the ARC lock is the smoothest lock I have ever used in my life... the G-10 handles provide a great grip and are matched perfectly to their steel liners....the blade is an absolute work of art.... I could go on forever but I think I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, after all, a picture is worth a 1000 words.

If anyone reading this post is looking for a really nice high end folder....this is the one. Only problem is that it has been discontinued....so you better hurry up.;)

Wow ! What amazing pics ! What an awsome knife ! It looks just like mine except mine is a little more "broke in" looking, but it still looks great.

Try the "notebook paper test" on your blade/serrations, (I just made that up) and see if it don't slice paper like a razor blade.

The more you use it, the smoother it will get. Congrads on this one, I am glad you got it before the holiday weekend.

One other thing, on the next to the last pic, one inch back from blade tip, upper side, there is a piece of lint, could you get that off ?

Robbie Roberson :)

I have seen them anywhere from $100 to $150, do a search on google and you should find some still in stock.

They are truly a work of art IMO. I have had one for 3 years and really like it, smoothest knife I ever owned.

Robbie Roberson :)

mlovett,

I bought mine on E-bay, there are about 11 left from the E-bay store that I purchased mine from (green bay cutlery) Click here.

Robbie,

I have already tried the paper slicing test and all I can say is.:eek::eek::eek:

I'm trying but my tweezers just keeps bouncing off my monitor. :D:p........

It's fixed.;)

What is the difference between the Night Vision and the Vision/X-Ray Vision? I have been looking at the X-Ray Vision as an EDC.

Thanks,
Hawk

The night vision has G-10 handles which fit flush with the steel liners. The normal vision has titanium handles which also fit flush with the steel liners. The X-ray vision has zytel handles which overlap the steel liners and it also has a different blade finish.

Thanks for the follow-up. I will have to add one to my list of "Wants".

Nice pics of a knife! Never seen a knife so close up before! Like the others I have added this to my "to get this christmas for a gift of me to myself" list. This knife looks similar to the Sog Vision that ahs a silver handle right?

It's the same knife only with G-10 handles.... and you better hurry up if you want to get one....because they have been discontinued for some time and are getting harder and harder to come by.;)

Yup.....the grind lines are awesome.:D But what I really like about this knife is how smooth the action is....if you give the thumbstud a quick push the blade flips out as fast as most assisted knives.

Well the things I do not like is the length: 3" is too short . I'm greedy. Do tanto blades do well in penetration and cutting than clip-point blades?

The blade is actually 3.75" not 3"..... yes Americanized tanto blades do very well in penetration.... as for cutting, I would say it works very well, having that second "point" is really useful.

has the Night Vision (G-10 handles) been discontinued? All I see on SOG's web site are the other models?

Yes...the night vision has been discontinued.:( better hurry up and buy one if you so desire....there are some going on E-bay...thats where I got mine. ;)
