I got a new toy today. I found it on ebay for less than $20 and had to buy it. I don't know anything about it because I've never had a Boker before, i just love the stockman pattern and the price on this was too good to pass up.

I cleaned it and oiled it and then sharpened it. It took a wicked edge in no time, Both backsprings are strong and all three blades have a good solid snap.

I've very satisfied considering what I paid. I'll drop it in my pocket tomorrow to see how it performs.

Aloha Ookami!

Wow...good to see you here!

Congrats Psychopomp! That is a sweet slipjoint!!!

God bless

re: aloha!

I am kinda new in the boker forum, but have dealt with them here in Germany and own one or two boker knives.

Ookami

P.S.: I know it should be Böker, but I am afraid not too many people care over here, since it has been known as boker

Aloha Ookami,

I got a few Magnums, maybe one day I'll be able to afford a Boker! :D How do the Magnum's move in Germany? I was pretty impressed with the KAL74's...I couldn't believe how they did that to an aluminum handle!

God bless and take care

the AK74's seem to be solid value, however most of the magnum line is just plain imported scrap metal resembling knives  and even with some boker models it's 'try before you buy'. boker's linerlocking folders were especially notorious for lock failure.

I think you are ok when buying newer models like the AK-series, since QC and manufacturing have improved. fixed blades should also be ok.

I was kinda shocked when I read that you could barely afford the magnums, but then I had a look at how much more expensive (even the MSRP) bokers are in amerika.

but then again spydercos, which I am more interested in, are quite expensive around here...

Aloha Ookami!

No, I meant a TRUE Boker folder I cannot afford...Magnum's I can though...well, maybe not their dive knives! :o :D

Yes, there ARE a few exceptions to this Magnum line. A co-worker of mine has an automatic recurve Magnum and it is a workhorse. Asked price paid for it and he said less than $30USD...wow.

God bless and I apologize to psychopomp for this thread hijacking :o :(
