I started out with a couple 3.5" XM's, a non-flipper and flipper. Through a trade, I got my first 3" flipper last week. Its stonewashed thoughout with the Orange Scale. I had this lanyard on my keyring and put it on here instead which I think compliments it perfectly.

Even though the 3" flipper is the size of a small sebenza, it feels much bigger and is alot more comfortable in my hand. The 3.5" fits my hands better, but I think the 3" will make a great EDC as its more sheople friendly. I can definately see why the 3" flipper is in such High Demand.

Sorry for the crappy pics, it was very sunny here today and for some reason they kept coming out a little blury.......Any pics are better than no pics right !!!

By the way, I got this lanyard from someone on the forum when I either bought a knife from them, or through a trade. They made them and had a website and was kind enough to send me this sample at no charge. If anyone happens to know who makes these, please PM me as I would like to Buy Some for my other knives !!!

Enjoy !!!

Too nice! Truly - more pics the merrier - Love it. Do you prefer the flipper or non? I'm in the market for probably the 3". And really like the choils. The Strider PT fits like a glove - so I'm in a quandry as to whether a 3" flipper or not, 1 cos of the flipper and two cos the smaller (than a PT) choil. And thoughts good sir?

Dare I ask? What did you trade for this baby, your soul?:D

Which do you think is the better knife, the 3" XM-18 or the Small Sebenza?

It was a trade involving many items. I traded a CRK aviator, MKVI, 5.5 Knonka ( these were my least favorite OPR )

I got the 3" flipper, orange scale for my 3.5" flipper, Hinderer Tool and some $$$.

Both the small sebenza and 3" hinderer are great knives and you cant really compare quality. I like the small regular sebenza, but had recently traded it an a mnandi for my first xm-18 3.5" non-flipper. I really dislike the small 21 sebenza. I have tried several and they just do not fit my hand, feel very small in my hand, and I dont care for the blade profile of the 21, large or small. The only small sebenza I have left is my small "P" style sebenza and its a keeper. It has the regular sebenza blade profile, and is more square than the 21 sebenza, I really like it. In fact, I have been meaning to send it in for the spa treatment, but havent gotten around to it yet.......The Hinderer 3" flipper, even though it is the same size as the small sebenza, due to its contours feels great in my hand. Plus the G10 adds some grippiness. The flipper, even though its cool to flip, I feel it serves much better as a guard. A friend of mine pointed this out and I agree with him 100%. This greatly helps keeping the little knife in place in hand. I just got it last week and have only carried it for a few days. I put the lanyard on it yesterday and it adds to the grip making it feel a little longer. I am leaving this one tip up because the lanyard lays in pocket much better. The lanyard also does not interfear with hand placement when flipping either. I have a large flipper and it definately is more comfortable in my hand due to its larger size. I am used to carrying a large sebenza, umnumzaan, ZT301, Strider SMF, and the 3.5" xm-18 fits nicely with these. But the 3" definately has a place for someone wanting something just a bit smaller and more sheople friendly. I can definately see why the 3" flipper is so highly sought after. I would definately in my opinion ( not that it means much...lol ) give the edge to the 3" flipper. But you do have to factor that in the current market, the 3" xm costs twice as much as a small sebenza. So you have to ask yourself, do you want ONE 3" xm-18, or TWO small sebenzas ???

I have always found it tough to part with any of my CRK's, but I feel if the $$$ is not available, the only way to get a high end xm-18 is to trade another high end knife for it. I certainly rank the xm-18 right up there with CRK as one of the top folding knives made today.

WOW, I received my New New Toy today in the mail that I bought from a fellow forum member all the way from Australia ( sold my chopweiler and sheath ). The transaction was top notch, with FAST responces. I think it took 8 business days from Australia to Pennsylvania. Not bad.

Its a Full Stonewashed 3.5" flipper. I am now selling my blasted frame/stonewashed blade 3.5" as I just like the stonewashed better. Both are great knives, I am planning to put my orange 3.5" handle on this one as I think it would make a better hunting knife. I think the gunk will wash off the stonewashed easily, while it would tend to stick to the blasted making it much harder to clean. Cant confirm that yet, but from past experience with other knives, thats what I have come across. I do think the blasted handle/black scale XM looks more tactical though........By the way, the guy I got this new XM from was kind enough to include an Hinderer Patch !!! Awsome Awsome !!!

You know I had to take more pics and share with you guys. Enjoy The Pics !!!

Geez, nyefmaker, how many XM-18's do you have now??

4, but I am selling the blasted frame/stonewashed black scale 3.5" flipper to basically pay myself back for the new black one I just posted pics of.

Nice collection there! I am missing mine already... now I have the Hinderer bug again!
