Yes, my NIB Umnumzaan, bd 12/27/2010, got here today. I am very happy with it. To me, it represents a very good example of fine metalworking art. And, combine the art with a bit of science, the ceramic ball and large pivot, and it really becomes interesting to me. The S30V blade shaves hair and slices Yellow Pages very nicely.
I have a mild early machinist background and rather heavy scientific career background, and have always enjoyed fine "perfectionist" examples of intricate, exacting metalwork, whether they appear in an 50-yr-old Smith & Wesson revolver or in this very fine example of a folding knife.
The lockup on this knife is perfect and blade centering is also. The blade opens very nicely, although it was tight to begin with. It's obvious that it is beginning to work in. The unlocking is "sticky." I have to use two hands in order to close the knife, but it will be okay too.
I sold two "mid-level" ANIB folders, each worth about $175, in order to afford this CRK. For me, it is a great deal. I never carried those other two folders. I bought them, looked at them, measured them, put them in the safe. I have a history of switching around my EDC's a lot, perhaps because I've never found one design or manufacturer that I really liked. Several folders never made it out of the box.
This Umnum is now my EDC. Chris Reeve has changed that for me. And I'm grateful.
I've taken some pix that will be very familiar to many of you. I think I got really lucky to find this Umnumzaan. And now I know what you folks have been talking about.
