I just received my new plain edged Spyderco Viele from ABC-Direct (great price and excellent service). The fit and finish on the knife, as usual, is terrific. The micarta really gives this knife a classy look. Prior to this, all my knives had ATS-34/55, BG-42, or CPM 440V blades. At first, I was kind of hesitant because of the AUS-8. However, now, I realize that it wasn't all that big a deal. A little extra blade maintenance is a pleasure for such a beautiful knife.
I did get a chance to handle one when they first came out some time ago. At that time, I seem to recall that the liner lock went all the way to the right scale and had a funky bend in it. On my new knife, the liner lock doesn't have the bend and set just left of the center of the blade. Did Spyderco re-engineer the linerlock for these knives?

Okay, my last post didn't post, I'll try it again. It's great to see someone else discover the Veile. I think it's one of the most under-rated knives out there. I've had mine for almost two years and I love it. It's my "gentleman's knive", what I carry every day to work. As for the liner lock, mine goes all the way over to one side, I'm glad to hear the new ones center, but that aside, I've never had it fail with the old lock.
