Just picked up a Vintage SOG Stingray and had to show someone. I always wanted a Tomcat ever since seeing them in the knife case at the mall when I was a kid. I never new about the Stingray until I recently, I really like this knife. I still want the Tomcat but at least the Stingray can be reasonably carried.

I found it on Craigslist, for $80. I'm guessing I did pretty good.

Meant to add great find. A friend recently gave me a bunch of old knife magazines from the mid to late nineties. That would be about the time I got my first Benchmade AFCK. I think the folders from that time had a lot of great appeal. Looking at the old magazines you can see a lot of the old ads and Sog had some really nice folders back then. Still do here and there but there was a better sense of quality to them. You got a nice one.

Forgot to ask, hows the lock up? Just curious. The condition looks great from the pic's.

Lock up is solid, with zero blade play. It's actually a bit stiff, the more I look at it, I think it was carried more than used.

I have one, bought in the early 90', il has a very little blade play and needs a little cleaning and lubing but it is in great conditions.
What can I use to clean and lube the locking mechanism? I see Brown spots but i don't think it is rust but old lube and dirt

I've got a SOG Stingray I bought way back when. Very good lock up as well as being a heavy duty little knife. The thing I didn't like about carrying it was that the kraton would just sort of stick in one spot in my pocket and become uncomfortable after a while. You gotta good deal I think.

wow seeing that knife does bring back memories as a kid . I lusted for the SOGS also and never had the money to buy one. They are beautiful folders they dont make em like that anymore do they?
