I have been looking for a short stout blade to use deer hunting for minor clearing around stand and for splitting pelvis. This Warthog seems perfect for that. And with a heat treat that may prevent chipping. I have removed the "ears" on the guard, (short work with my Paaso scandi knife) as I prefer a thin handle in the front, where my thumb and index finger grip, which gives me better control. The "ears" seem superfluous to me anyway. I plan to strip blade and possibly rehandle. Will post pics as I progress.

I cant post pics. Basically i removed the guard and added a ash wood handle

did you drill out the ash handle and slip it over the tang? use the lanyard tube to lock it up? and did you change the edge angle?

I used two pieces of ash and a trim router and grooved out the wood for the tang. I reused the butt cap and hand guard.
I convexed the edge

You're talking about the original 1247 warthog aren't you? The OP is talking about the newer Heavy Warthog.
