anyway, there's been a lot of backpack questions here so here's my first impression review of the kifaru g2 zxr backpack: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/837192-review-kifaru-g2-zxr-backpack.

Thankyou for being honest.
Why are you up at 3 am.
Nice pack.

that freaking missing patrol machete has been bothering me so i'm taking the day off tomorrow to check up on it...and a little maker's mark isn't helping my insomnia...my turn, why are you still awake? :D

trailbum, I think the Swamp Rats hit the perfect consumer point in the Busse line-up.
They're much cheaper than Busses but retain many of the same design elements.
I'm not terribly fond of the ScrapYard stuff because so much of it has the Resiprene C scales.
The original Ratweiler is a fantastic knife. As is the Ratmandu.

I keep looking at Swamp Rat but can't get over the appearance and those big choils.

Tremendous review. Thanks for the all detailed info, it was very helpful!

You ever use swamp rat knives.

i've never used swamp rat. those massive choils turns me off too. some of the bussekin scales aren't very comfortable either. they have that plastic, slippery feel to them. it's nothing like becker grivory which grips just fine for me. the rubber handles that i handled last month at a knife show was very grippy and comfortable though.

I always thought that was a vest in your other pictures.:o:confused:

a molle vest for hiking is mall ninja level 3, man! i'm only up to level 2 so far...i'm working on it.

Down to one Becker?! Schwaaaat? Methinks you needs a '5.

blame riley, he got me hooked on scandi knives. actually for kitchen duty, i mainly use a chinese vegetable cleaver, like this. something about the blade height that i find works the best with me. i grew up with "walk with yan" tv show - anyone remember that? that's probably why.

you're welcome. i'm happy you guys find it useful.

I remember Yan - he wore cheesy aprons that said stuff like "Wok and Roll" - he has a line of cheap knives and Asian-ish kitchen gear. Successful guy.
