Well a lot of guy at my command have been asking me to make some folding knives. I have been wanting to do it for a while but the task seemed so daunting that I never tried, till now :) . I am really pleased with how these turned out, the only real problem is the lock on them the first one is about 60-70% the other one is about 90%. I really learned a lot about the challenges of folder this weekend and I plan to make a lot more in the future. these are almost done I just need to mark and send them to peters ht, they are 1/8" D2. the scales are Ti on the lock side and G10 on the scale side. the black one is the peal off texture G10, its very grippy. please critique these :) I need to know what else I can do to make these better besides not get carried away grinding the lock out. .

thanks for looking, -Josiah

Those both look awesome! If I would change anything it would be to use bigger screws, but that is really just a matter of personal preference.

thanks guys, I would really like to start making mostly folders, its soooo much more challenging. I swear it was like a high when the big one locked for the first time with a big clack :)

my folder collection was the main reason that I got into knife making, now that I feel I have the skills to make some decent folders I feel compelled to go crazy making these.

btw, the first attempt went in the trash lol.

off topic, sandblasting Ti looks pretty cool :)

I have no doubt you will only get better as you go along. Its good that you are jumping in feet first and getting into folders right off the bat. Despite the extra work involved, folders will undoubtedly be in more demand than fixed blades.

It looks like you've got the basics down already. Now you just have to refine refine refine..... I'm sure you'll get it right. You've got the two most important raw materials in abundance: youth and enthusiasm.

Looking good. I'm working on 4 Folders myself. The challenge of new "problems" is making it very enjoyable.

exactly, every challenge gave me a little high lol. these were so much fun to make. Im keeping a diary of what order to do things and things that I need to consider when designing my folders in the future.
