Check out my newest C&R addition. My favorite local gun dealer is retireing and selling off his inventory at a pretty big discount. I've been looking for a Carcano carbine for a few weeks and couldn't find any. Well a couple of days ago I went to my dealers and sure enough there was a Carcano on his shelf. The price tag said $109 but I talked him down to $60. I thought I made out like a bandit and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I'm trying to build up my World War rifle collection and this little Carcano is a great addition.

Wow! That looks like a good score - great price and a clean rifle too.

WWII rifles are getting hard to find at a reasonable price and they are often much abused examples not worthy of display. Finds like this one are getting hard to come by.

I agree, I've had a hard time finding a nice Carcano. I was searching the auction sites but the prices were pretty high. The bore on this one isn't the greatest, it's a little pitted but the rifling is strong and the crown is perfect. It might turn out to be a decent shooter once I find some ammo.

Hey Dewingrm. If it is in 6.5mm, the actual groove diameter is closer to .268", not the usual .264" of other 6.5mm rifles. I think Hornaday makes the proper diameter boolits for you. Use of too small a bullet will yield sub-standard accuracy.

Cheers
