Hello!
Here is my newest piece. This is my 4th fixed blade. It is something a little different with a few firsts. This was my first fixed without bolsters, my first working with 1084, and my first of this shape blade. I had been working in O-1 and wanted to play with hamons. This one came out better than expected! This one is very very quick and light. The one piece scales are sculptured to serve as their own guard, with a thicker ridge that prevents your hand from slipping forward. This one fits like a comfy little glove in your hand.
Stats:
OAL 7.75"
Blade length: 4:
Blade steel: 1084, Double edge quenched, triple tempered.
Grind: Flat with microconvex edge.
Scales: Red Box Elder Burl, Stabilized by WSSI, purchased from David Peterson on TKN
Pins: 1/4" Mosaic.
Spine: Fileworked.
Side views:
A closeup of the Hamon, as best i could capture it:
Filework on spine:
Closeup of wild burl:
