A while back I made a post asking why Ti rings were so expensive as opposed to a Ti handled knife. This led me on a search to find a reasonably priced Ti ring maker. Well, I found one at http://members.aol.com/bboone5619/titaniumrings.html and decided to contact him and see if he could custom make me a thumb ring. I wanted it to look like the handles of a Bench-Made bali with the 0:0: pattern. I sent him a picture of a 42 and he gave me a price the same day and sent me a rendering of the ring.

I ordered the ring last Thursday, he dropped it in the mail Monday and it arrived Tuesday. The quality is superb. Perfectly polished, no unrounded edges or burrs, it fits perfectly, is super light and very comfortable.

He is very helpful and very quick to respond to e-mails. I know this isn't totally about Balisongs, but it was influenced by one.

Here is a picture of the ring. I got Mr. Boone to name this style "The Bali"

There is a close up of the ring on my Album <a href=http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=1291885&a=11566848>here</A>

His prices were $100-$300 cheaper than other ring makers I found and everything about the ring is perfect. You can choose from around 7 different finishes (polished, brushed, cross brushed, angled brushed, peened, deep scratch, satin.... The list goes on. He will truly custom make you a ring to your specs.

If you contact Mr. Boone, please let him know that Mark sent you as I promised him that I'd send some people that might be interested in a ring his way.

Mark, I think that is super cool, especially since you got the Benchmade skeletonized handle design. I might actually look into getting myself one of those, but probably not for my thumb, though.

He can do it in any size for any finger. You can also select how wide you want it. I wanted it wide for my thumb because I wrestle around with friends and if I grab someones wrist joint I can apply more pressure with my thumbring. (it's not really wrestling, more like seeing who can make who give up first) Most time when I grab some body joint the thumbring lets me squeeze much harder.

$100 - $300 cheaper? So it's like $50 or less?

The bali ring looks very cool, but lord Id rather by a 42 than a ring if it's more than $100 :/ Is there a lot of work involved in making the ring?

Well, the understanding I have is that he creates a cad design and feeds it to a $100,000 piece of equipment. The equipment does a rough cut then the ring is finished, polished, etc.. by hand. Plus it's done in a couple days instead of weeks like some ring makers.
