This knife is so nice I couldn't help showing it.The tang stamp just says Craftsman USA so there isn't a number to track but as we've talked about before ,I think this is the same blade as the Schrade-Walden 166.I can say this is one fine knife,7 inch blade,12 inches overall and hefty.Solid construction.First pic is the knife, second pic is of Craftsman along side the 166 Buffalo Bill.Arnold

Arnold,
That IS a nice knife. I really like that handle. I'd think it's probably harder to get a hold of a decent Craftsman (166) than it is to find a Buffalo Bill. A lot of the Craftsman knives probably turned into users. Now what is a 166SR? Had to have come out the same year as the BB, which I believe was also '69.

The 166SR was Schrade Walden's name for the version of the 166BB that they made for Sears Roebuck, specifically for the American Eagle Series with the special sheath, and usually the knives in the series had some fancier spacers in the handles. The #21627's were actually first shipped in 1967, though not in that series, so the 166BB sans Buffalo Bill regalia, was a Craftsman before it was a Buffalo Bill. The Craftsman version also was made in 1968. You are correct about the 166BB intro in 1969. But they were also provided to Sears in the Craftsman guise in 1969 and 70. Truth be known, there were likely more of the Craftsman version made than the Buffalo Bill version.
