My next (2nd) Emerson... A-100 or Mini A-100?

So I got the CQC 7V and I'm impressed enough that I want another Emerson.

I've found over the years that I won't carry a huge folder, and I'm not too keen on re-curve blades, but I find myself drawn to the sleek simplicity of the A-100 series. I'm not sure if I want the larger of the two or smaller (eventually, probably both but for now, I'm just taking one knife at a time :D ).

I like plain-edge satin-finish blades, and I like the double-V grind, but I can't find any info on whether either of these knives come in a V-cutting edge or if like my CQC-7v, they are V-grind, but Chisel-edge.

Anyone own both the Mini and A-100 (or either) got any advice?

I own both. Love them both. You'll end up with both in the end I think.

The edge, like your 7V (another great knife), is a V-Grind with a chisel edge. I think all emersons are chisel edged if i'm not mistaken...

Its really in what you want. The Mini A-100's handle is small. Very small. The blade is very capable in length and design. The full size, when closed, is about the size of a sharpie in your pocket (a little thicker). But about doubles in length with that big, beautiful blade.

I find myself carrying the mini more than the full size because I bought it to be a small, discreet folder. And that's what I like to use it for. The full size is big and probably a little too big for most of my purposes. So tell you the truth, I hardly ever even carry it. But I just liked the Mini so much it needed a bigger brother.

I doubt I was much help, but that's my $.02

The A100, big or small, is a beautiful design that feels really, really good both in your hand and in your pocket. It's straight design takes up zero pocket space I've found and I do really like that about it. For a bigger knife, the full size disappears when carrying it.

I got my A100 last Saturday because, like you, I was so impressed with my first Emerson (horseman) I had to have another one right away. I am always attracted to simple, clean, almost utilitarian, lines and the A 100 certainty fit that bill quite well. The A100 is a nice full size folder that carries extremely well in the pocket because of its slim profile. While it doesn’t melt in my hand like the horseman, it does feel nice in the hand in any grip. Overall I am extremely satisfied with the knife and I believe you will be too if the sleek profile speaks to you.

I have been looking at these too. Good post E Z Bake, I'm looking forward to the feedback also.
Cheers

I have had the Mini A100 for about a month, and it is perfect for my EDC needs. I too liked the simplicity of this knive, and the blade shape. I really only carried a small Sebenza 21 before this for 80% of my week (filled in with a Para 2 or an SnG on the weekends). This knife is going to give my Sebenza a run for the money. I did not think that would happen easily. This is my only Emerson, so I can't speak as an Emerson expert.

One thing i would like to add is that the mini is every bit as rugged and well built as the full size. Width of the blade, liners, and G10 is the same. Pivot is the same. Pocket slip is the same. The components are identical in a lot of ways. So make your decision based on what size knife you want, not because you think one will he stronger or more capable than the other. They are both excellent choices that are built to be tougher than 99.99% of most knife owners' needs. This was my first time owning 2 sizes of the same design from Emerson and didn't realize how similar they would be.

I love the a100. I really want a sw version regulR and mini but right now im into bigger blades. My smallest blade other than a protech cqc7 is an umnumzaan lol.
