My next CRK?

I am thinking of adding another CRK to my collection after I sell off some other knives. I'm leaning toward an Umnumzaan or a Snakewood Mnandi. I have 3 types of Sebenza: Large 21, Large Micarta Insingo, and a Small Regular. Just curious what any of you would add if you were in this horrible predicament.

You've got the large, utility segment covered...I'd look at a Mnandi or nice Small 21. For using around the gentler folk, of course.

I have the same issue, i want an umnumzaan very badly, but i dont have a knife that fills the "smaller gentleman's knife" role. I may justify the umnumzaan purchase over the mnandi when the time comes for me by telling myself that i rarely have situations that require me to cary a gentleman's knife other than the occasional wedding or presentation where a suit is necessary. I feel your pain.

Thanks. The Snakewood just looks great. I've considered a Small Snakewood 21 as well.

Does anyone have a picture of a Mnandi next to a Small 21? I've looked but could find a good shot.

If you want a knife with a more heavy duty feel and is a true tank, go with the umnumzaan. If you want something a lot different than what you already have, you cant go wrong with the mnandi. I used to have the 3 umnumzaan versions (Regular, Tanto, Wilson Combat ). I sold the Wilson Combat as the grooves dug into my fingers when gripping. I still have the regular umnumzaan and the tanto version. I would like to get the newer version of the umnumzaan because I liked the improvments found in the WC version, just did not like the sharp grooves. I really like the mnandi. I used to have 5 of em, now I am down to just one. You can get them in a huge variety of colorful grain woods. Pretty much any wood you like ( light, dark, or something inbetween ) can be found in the mnandi. Either way you cant lose, and in the end you will have both anyways. Congrats on your CRK collection.

Thanks! I'm fairly well resigned to the fact that I will eventually get both. I think I'm just fooling myself at this point.

I'd say go for the Ti-Lock. It's very compact with incredibly high blade to handle ratio. It's smooth to operate once you get used to it, and is a ton of fun to play with all day long.

The Ti-Lock looks interesting but I think I may go for something a bit more "classic" looking, either the Mnandi or Small 21. My Spyderco Chaparral fills the "small gentlemen's folder" role right now, but that Mnandi does looks nice.

Getting both seems the way to go, but I'd start with the mnandi, just because it offers something you don't have already.

Snakewood by itself is nice to look at and the feel is smooth. The Mnandi is also a unique piece.
