I am looking to buy a new EDC soon but am not sure what to get right now. Maybe you guys can help me find what I am looking for. I want a knife around 3 inches or less. I need something that is strong enough to handle outdoors work for when I go camping. I do not want a serrated blade though. I prefer a knife with a flipper but it doesn't have to be. Lastly I'm looking to spend about 60 dollars or less

What is the current EDC you are replacing or is this your first EDC? If you are looking for a replacement it would help to know what is being replaced and why.

PS: search is your friend

Forget the Cryo its incredibly overrated in my opinion if you want a flipper get the Kershaw Shallot. I have A mini griptilian, Benchmade 940-1, and even a Shirogorov model 95 and My EDC for the past 5 years has always been the Shallot. No exaggeration when I say it is indestructible. I bought it thinking it looked cool and would be a practical knife and it just blew me away I work landscaping/maintenance and my knife is in and out of my pocket all day and gets some pretty hard use, the swedge is perfect for opening paint cans:) I honestly went through a week where I abused the heck out of it just to see if I could break it but in the end it flipped just as good as the day I bought it. If you don't like the spring assist it is very easy to remove and knife will still operate smoothly. a lot of people are put of by the recurved blade but the recurve is actually quite subtle and the blade is pretty straight and just dips down where it meets the handle to give the illusion of a recurve. I bought mine when they were $94, now they are just $47 on Amazon but I would say $94 is still too cheap for what you are getting. liquid smooth, stunning looking, holds its black coating great, EXTREMELY corrosion resistant, holds a wicked edge, zero blade play. If I could only have one knife for the rest of my life I would be hard pressed to let my shallot go.

The shallot looks like a nice knife but may be too long I really don't want a huge knife not a super small knife around 6-7 inches open in total blade and handle grip

I don't know about any that fit the budget but the Spyderco Techno is compact and tough for about 3 times the $$$.

Hmmm... 3" blade, 7" OAL, flipper, under $60... You just described the Kershaw Leek exactly. :) You can pick up a Composite Blade Leek (D2 cutting edge) for about $60 right now.

Some others to consider:
- CQC-5K - 3" blade, 7.1" OAL, wave opener, ~$35
- Nura 3.0 - 3" blade, 7.1" OAL, KVT flipper, ~$35 (not out yet, but should be soon)
- Injection 3.0 - 3" blade, 7" OAL, thumb stud, ~$35
- Cryo G10 - 2.75" blade, 6.5" OAL, flipper and thumb stud, ~$35
- Ripple K410 - 2.7" blade, 6.5" OAL, IKBS flipper, ~$35
- Delica4 - 2.5" blade, 7.1" OAL, thumb hole, under ~$60

Well, not a flipper, but you said it didn't really have to be. I suggest the Cold Steel Mini Recon, it fits the rest of your suggestions, tough (definitely will work for camping), decent steel (AUS 8A - not a bad steel for the money) easy to sharpen when it needs it, great lock (supposedly the best on the market in terms of strength), awesome grip (I mean really aggressive G10 that wears in well), right at or just under 3 inch blade.

Fits the bill and comes in at under $40 on amazon shipped to your door for the sweet clip point just over $40 for the other 2 blade shapes. It will last as long as you need it to do the job.

Kershaw Needs Work! Different but a fine knife for the price!

To add to the every growing list ...

"Flipper ... around 3"? My first thought - the ubiquitous Kershaw Skyline 1760BW Blackwashed.

The knife you describe, except for the flipper is a Cold Steel Mini Recon 1. There are many videos of this knife being thrown, batoned with, shot, and all sorts of abuse, and it keeps on taking it. It is about $60 but you can get the clip point (I have one) at a special price of $37 right now.

It's been said already, but the mini recon 1 is great; no flipper, but it meets the other criteria. Really a tough little knife!
