Hi there, been looking, lurking, watching reviews and I'm pretty much set on a CRKT Pilar Large D2. My first post here :) I try to keep away, I already collect watches, small flashlights, fountain pens and those can be expensive hobbies lol
I love black knives, but this can be negotiable. Want a flipper or assisted, like them kinda small and don't want to spend a fortune. On the Pilar I'd probably would like the change the washers, as well as a deep carry clip. Where's a good deal for those?
I'm in Canada so lots of places won't deliver here unless exception or hefty shipping.
I'm open to other suggestions, I'm also looking at the Bestech Engine drop point or the Goblin (flamed Ti or blue insert) but that would be kinda "precious" for usable EDC.

Can't help you with the aftermarket stuff, but the Pilarge is a decent knife in my book.

Canadian problems aren't new and I expect much more ...
Maybe RAT 1 or 2 ?
They aren't expensive, very good and got even here very good feedback.

I can't comment on the Pilar other than I see it mentioned lots for "budget" carry.

But, if it were me I'd take the above guys suggestions and get a Rat 1 or Rat 2. Both excellent budget knives that carry and perform way above their price point.

What is your price range? Civivi makes some great budget flippers from what I've heard.

Budget would be err... if I'm in love up to 100, if I spend more I'd be afraid of messing it up. For a show/ pretty toy, 200 or so. The price range of the Pilarge is pretty much what I'd like to pay for utilitarian purpose. Forgot to mention: I got nothing against a used one, most of my watches and pens are from 2nd hand, "watchrecon" can be very a dangerous site as well as the "fountainpennetwork" lol. I found out in my years of collecting that the collectors just have so many in rotation that very often they are barely used.
Its even easier to see with knives. As per right now, I have a few Kershaws Cryo (too heavy), chive, scallion, leek. Laguiole and a No 8 Opinel and another Opinel 8 with a sandvik half serrated ( I'm French lol) Got a very old bowie fixed sharp as a razor, a few Gerbers, a few multi tools, many top notch kitchen knives...Now that I write this I realized I do have a few ... Story of my life :)

I've looked at the rat II not bad, looked at the Civivi momentum, like it but just a tad large I think. I'd love to handle a few, but no Civivi in Montreal that I know of

Best of luck!

I don't know what the laws in Canadia are, but if automatic knives are legal, check out the Kershaw Launch series.

Kershaw Leek. For about $60-70 (US) you can get a composite blackwash, for $120 you can get an all black CPM154 with carbon fibre scales that also glow in the dark.
