My next Kershaw

I thought I was pretty much dead set on my next knife being a Leek. But after browsing this site I am really starting to like the Blur.. and the Skyline.. And a tanto blade.. and...

Ugh.

If you like the tanto blade, check out the Tone. I owned one for about a year and it's very beefy. Mine had no blade play, perfect centering, etc. No problems and served me well. I only recently retired it for a Paramilitary 2. Great knife, but I never see people suggesting them instead of the Skyline or Blur. I got mine for $30 bucks. Oh, I also figured I will mention it is assisted opening. Some people don't like that, but I love it. Thing snaps open fast and locks hard.

Really depends on what you want to do with your knife. You should consider how you carry your blade, what kind of tasks you want to do with it and what size you want. The leek is a great blade overall it sits in your pocket really well even if you don't use the clip and is fun to flip.

@ Opkey, thanks for the suggestion. I do enjoy the open assist.

@ Sinsanity, main reason for wanting the Leek is it's slim design while closed. My Whirlwind does seem "bulky" sometimes if I am sitting on it. I keep my knifes clipped all the way to the left of my left back pocket.

Duties would be... not much. Cutting snags, opening things, cutting tags off stuff, very light work.

The Leek would do great for those kinds of tasks but if you are worried about the tip being weak or want something a little bigger a skyline would be a great option as well! But this is a slippery slope as you start with one you just can't stop! I started with a Leek and now its too late for me i'm a certified knifenut now :D

I just wanted to add that the Tone is also configured for tip-up or tip-down. I don't have it on me right now buy I do believe it's actually a 4 position clip. I will say though, considering you keep it in your back pocket, it's not exactly a very flat knife. Like I said it has a beefy feel to it. It may work for you, but if you want something very flat then go for the Skyline.

I have the composite Leek. I bought it just because it looked cool. If you if go for a Leek I would not recommend the composite though. The steel handles are super slippery to me, and for this reason (and the fact that the handle sticks a good bit out of the pocket) it never makes it into my daily rotation. I wish I had gotten the S30V/G10 version of either it or the Blur instead. If you love thin and light, the Skyline is a great knife to carry. It always gets a day or two in the pocket per week if I'm not sporting something new.

You can have a Leek and your tanto too :D

Haha well I would gladly trade you for some cash

As to the OP, a Blur would be a great knife also if you like the AO. If you want a flipper, then the Skyline is an excellent way to go without breaking the bank. It's also very thin and lightweight.

I really dig the blade on the second Leek from top.
The bummer is I have a Dick's Sporting Goods gift card that I wanna burn up and they only carry a few Kershaws.
I am having a hard time finding anything in their store I actually want except a Kershaw. I have gone in for a few other items I thought I wanted and their selection is no where near Cabela's (my normal store).
I think I am gonna head there for lunch and see what I walk out with...

Well picked up a Leek for lunch! Nothing fancy, but it'll be a worker. I kinda like that the the black is really gonna show wear as it get older, it will look distinguished!
