My next knife

So I can't decide between a NMFBM or the CGFBM. I have a NMFSH, and I want to get a user to test between the two. So help me out here Hogs what say you?


Pics would not hurt either :D
 
The NMFBM excels as a monster chopper, but is not very versatile. The CGFBM is much better as an all-arounder.


 
I have all three and they're similar but chop different. For me the CGFBM is a great chopper. The NMFSH is shorter but thicker and feels great in the hand. The NMFBM is a beast but I'm not sure it's any better. No way I'd get rid of it though :)

I say get whichever one you find first at a price you're willing to pay.

Also, I recommend looking into SYKCO. The 1111 is kinda like a budget FBM and the 1311 is amazing. It's currently my favorite knife. I like it so much I'll probably buy a couple more.
 
What is the thickness of your NMFSH? I think they range from .32-.37 inches.

I think you'll be happy with either Mistress, but regardless of which one you go for, I'd get one that's around the .25-.27 inch range. I just got a .25 FBM and it swings so much better than the .37 NMFSH I used to have (as you would expect).

When I got that TTKZ at Blade 09, it had a rather thick edge profile, and was not a very good chopper. The CG NMFBM has a thinned down convexed edge and was the far better chopper. The FBM LE with it's original edge was better, as well. So I sent the KZ back in to Busse, and asked Garth to thin it down. It came back much improved. It is now about even with the NMFBM. I compared them by chopping on this tree, an equal number of whacks per knife on either side.







 
Between the two, my vote would go to the CGFBM; I had one and loved it. I sold it once I realized how much more I liked the 1311. YMMV :D
 
Well I pulled the trigger, I have a CGFBM on the way to me. When I get it I will post pics once its here.

I told my wife if I like it, I might sell my NMFSH. NOT.... lol
