Hey guys so I’m pretty new to knives and I have two budget blades to my collection a crkt Pilar and a spyderco tenacious both of which I like, however I am looking for an upgrade I’m thinking something in D2 steel like civivi what else do you guys recommend? I have no idea where to start there is so many options

There's a ton of options. If you're shooting for budget checkout TwoSuns and Tuya knives. What do you like about the ones you have? What features are you looking for? I highly recommend going to Bladehq.com and using the knife selector tool!!!!

Civivi Elementum is a great knife.

You could also check out Bestech knives - the Paladin and Lion are both good knives.

+1 for moving up in the Spyderco line.
You can't hardly go wrong with Spyderco.
The Salt series fully serrated is awesome, the next bump in price will land you there or with an Endura or Delica.
For a little more money PM2s and Manix 2s become an option and they are both really awesome knives with lots of flavors to choose from.

Budget means a whole different thing for each one of us, so I would suggest you have a look at the Ontario RAT (1 and 2) knives. The basic models in AUS8 are great knives. If you don't mind spending a bit more, you could go with the D2 versions, more expensive but better steel. There is the option of getting CF skinned G10 handles instead of plastic ones if that's what you want.

What’s your guys opinion on the para 3 lightweight?

I don't own one but at $100€ I wouldn't consider it a budget knife (IMHO). No doubt it has a usefull blade shape, nice grippy scales and wire pocket clip.

At this price point you have many maaaaaaaaaany knives to choose from. Posibilities are endless.

I would go with the Spyderco Para 3 lightweight. Perfect size and I am quickly falling in love with the BD1N steel (not to be confused with BD1). I have had one for about a month now and it’s become my favorite EDC. It can be had for around $80 which I feel is a lot of knife for the money. I really can’t say enough about it.

I'll second the RAT 1 in D2. I'll also agree with what many others have said that a higher level spyderco might be a logical upgrade. The Manix, PM2, and Para 3 are fantastic knives. If those are a little too expensive to justify you could go with an Endura or Delica. Also Cold Steel has upgraded the steels on most of their folding knives to S35VN without a significant increase in price, and at less expensive than most spydercos in those steels, with a triad lock, they're a pretty good buy for the money.

D2 is popular right now and there are a lot of good examples in the $50 range. I have a bunch of Civivi knives now and I've been very happy with them. Somebody mentioned Tuya. Their Bruiser is a good "hard use" folder that's still got style. The micarta version is on sale for just a couple bucks more than the regular ones. Bestech is another solid recommendation. They tend to have fantastic actions. I've had my eye on the Bestech Texel for a while but life keeps getting in the way.
