My next knife...

I have the urge to buy another knife... but I'm not sure what to get. All of my knives so far have been purchased for a reason... I have a Griptilian for EDC, a Fallkniven S1 for survival, Leatherman on my hip.. one or two SAKs, and a couple other EDCs that were obsoleted by the Griptilian (oops). I'll be getting a hatchet to cover wood splitting etc.

So what should I get? I love hiking, biking, photography, whitewater (don't have a good whitewater knife yet!), and I don't mind spending around $100 for a good knife that I can justify.

Go to the knife makers for sale site and check out some of the work done by our excellent crop of craftsmen. One of them can make just what your longing for. And then some.:D

Warning: checking in there can be hazardous to your wallet.;)

Considering your activity in water, I'd suggest a Spyderco Salt model...guaranteed to never rust!

How about a Kershaw AO model such as the Leek or Blur or a flipper like the Composite JYDII.

Or go for a lightweight, super tough RAT RC-3 for being outdoors or wait until the RAT Izula comes out for an EDC necker!

Might be a little more than you budget but you can't go wrong with a Bark River knife.

Well, the Leek is one of the knives the BM obsoleted :p

Might have to be the Spyderco Caspian2......

Where do you guys think I could get the best price for it?

EDIT: Spyderco Native also caught my attention... VG-10 @ $62.99.... thing was a SCALPEL, only problem is the handle is a little short for my hands...

You need a reason to purchase another knife?

Well, if you do... Since you whitewater, you should get a good diving knife with straps that will keep it secure. You can even get a blunt tip, which would seem to make sense. You might even find a titanium in that price range.

Thanks, Halbie. I have seen some prices on those knives that were pretty good because the owner wanted to sell them. I always check the exchange.

Why don't you buy a nice knife for the outdoors but can pull kitchen duty as well so you would use it more. My suggestion would be to look at the Bark River knives

For the kitchen? A2 for the kitchen?

I won't use any A2 blade in the kitchen. Great steel, wrong venue. SS and ceramic, all the way!

I agree with the Spydie Salt. I bought one of those and it has been a reliable companion on the white-water rafting trips I've taken.

No,no,no, 1095 in the kitchen. When that patina develops there is nothing better.:D

Try a nice Stockman Slippie. It took me years to rediscover how useful and satisfying they are. You could spend alot or a little and find a setup that is squared away for ya....
