My first was the awesome Chaparral Raffir Noble
2.35” 2.3 oz (B:W 1.02)

Intended use: light EDC.

I tend to like lighter knives.

Selected Options:
• Spyderco One Eyed Jack 2.49" 3.7 oz (B:W 0.67)
• Spyderco Lil' Native 2.47” 2.4 oz (B:W 1.03)
• Spyderco Sage 5 3.0” 3.1 oz (B:W 0.97)
• Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight S110VN 3.37” 2.9 oz (B:W 1.16)

The M2LW probably makes most sense, given the longer blade length– a complementary contrast to the Chap.

But I’m fascinated by the compression lock, so I’m also looking at compression lock offerings.

What do you guys think?

Is it hard to keep the Manix 2 LW clean?

How does the Lil’ Native compare to the other recent compression lock offering, the Sage 5?

And what do y’all think of the arguably overpriced but gorgeous One Eyed Jack?

Well, the lil native is a bit of an unknown at this stage. If 'twere me, I'd relax until it came out, and see how it reviews against those others. As far as blade length goes, from what you have now, I'm not sure you'd notice the difference between the sage and the manix, 3/4-1 inch is a gain, you probably wouldn't notice the slight gain from the lil native.

I love me some Manix 2 LW. I don’t have any experience with the Native 5, as my compression lock fix comes via PM 2 (although the N5 seems like it would be more pocket friendly).

The One Eye looks pretty cool, but unless you’re enamored by small blades, why not branch up?

Manix is overkill for light EDC. It's a workhorse knife, you can carry one if you like it but it's more than enough for your needs.

From your choices, I say get the Sage, it's more EDC friendly.

Out of the knives listed, my choice would be the Manix2 LW. I have the Chap, Sage & Manix and the Manix is the a great contrast in blade size to the Chap, doesn’t wiegh much more and that S110V is just great.

Another thought... If you’re good with something with a weight right in between the Jack and the Sage, you might look at the Para3 with compression lock.

The ManixLW will give you more diversity in size. It is a hard working knife that is feather light. I have three different flavors and enjoy them. You cannot take them apart to clean them but I haven't had to either.

If you think the ManixLW is too big the Sage series are like slightly scaled up Chaparrals. If you really like your Chaparral and want something slightly bigger you may like the Sage. I have the CF Chap and the Sage 2,3 and 4. They are great knives. One of these days I will pick up the 5 as well.

The Lil'Native is brand new and looks very very similar to your Chaparral but a touch smaller. Unless you have a legal requirement to stay under 2.5 inches I do not think it will be able to do anything that your Chaparral isn't already doing.

The One Eyed Jack is awesome but it gave me sticker shock. I want to get my father one for Christmas but am on the fence due to price. It sure is a looker though and the filework is a wonderful touch.

Manix 2 (in g10) is one of my favorites. Carries big but you can't go wrong purchasing one. Great knife! If too large, go with the sage.

I really had no interest in it, until I checked out Knives Plus. They offer them with some cool mods.
This one as delivered last week and it hasn’t left my pocket!
Great little knife!
Joe

The first two are so similar in size to your Chap, I'd move on.
1. Manix 2 LW
2. Sage 5

I love everything about the Manix 2. I have the Manix 2 XL (I have a big hand). I prefer the G10 over FRCP but since you want lightweight, LW it is.

If I bought another Spyderco, my first choice would be the Slysz Bowie, which would be the third one I've owned. That is a great knife.

Yeah, it’s gonna be the Jack.

I keep going back to it trying to convince myself not to buy it.

I’ve been here before. If I don’t buy it, I’ll regret it.

Dammit.

Then the Sage 5 next year, then I’m hopefully done with Spyderco.

The Manix looks great logically, but it just doesn’t call to me strongly enough.

Understood!! When a knife grabs me like the Jack has you, I cannot resist either!
Very cool looking knife and I hope you love it brother!!
Joe

PS.....lotsa pics when she arrives please! Otherwise, there will be infractions!!

I am going to recommend something not listed. I have had and sold or kept all the Spyderco’s listed in this thread.
After carrying all of them at 1 point or another and what I came up with was the Gayle Bradley 2. If you like to play with it you will need to have the thumb choil enlarged to give you easier access to the lock bar. My next suggestion is my favorite, the Domino. Great all around knife.
Good luck

Always wanted to try a GB myself (1st iteration, for the choil). It's just too big a blade for me. Shame, the design is just so slicey looking.

Manix 2lw is not hard at all to keep clean. I just swab it out with a qtip. If you need to clean the pivot area you can spray or squirt some naphta in there so youncan clean it without disassembly.

If you like lighter knives and compression locks there is always the Spyderco Silverax.

However if you ask me my favourite light and great to carry Spyderco is the mini Lum Chinese folder. Those are amazing knives.
