My "nicest" Fiddleback (and learning something about myself)

So I just received what is what i would unequivocally call, my absolute "nicest" fiddleback. This one may not be my favorite, and it may not be the most practical. That being said, she's gorgeous. Show room ready. How the hell Andy didn't hog her all to himself I'll never know. I respect the man a little bit more that he blessed me with her presence. I introduce you to the Curly Q Hunter.

I'm sure many of you are somewhat surprised. Wait DCAggie... wheres the wood? Yes, I have an affinity for the woods (same problem in golf, ironically). And this one blew me away in the pictures, and took my breath away right out of the box...Shadetree and all. Surprisingly, I would label my dagger grind bushboot as my second "nicest". So my two nicest Fiddlebacks are Shadetree, not wood. Not knocking Shadetree at all, they make an excellent product. But with my love of wood (especially that African blackwood), this came as a surprise to myself as well.

Here are my two "nicest" FBs. What's yours?

He he. I'm glad you like it. Kinda a silly little thing, but also kinda exceptional too.

Love that combo you have...

The "Nicest" fiddleback that I have if I had to pick one would be the Cocobolo Woodchuck in CPM154... It just looks amazing. I showed it my friend who came to town a couple weeks ago and he was floored at the fit and finish. I love many of the handle materials Fiddleback uses, but a higher end wood just catches my eye slightly more.

I saw the hunter a little late and was sad to see it go. Glad it went to someone who really appreciates it. Enjoy.

Tough call, but I'd have to say either my matched (ironwood/nat can/ blue) woodsman, kephart,HB trio or my matched shadetree camp / BC karda combo. Despite being a naturally hard / stable wood fan, burlap is quite epic!

The ironwood trio will stay in the family though, as I have a lot of respect for Andy's work and I hope that these knives will be well used heirlooms one day. ;)

That curly Q Hunter is awesome. I'm with you on the A. Blackwood though, my current favorite is a Nessmuk with an african blackwood handle

Gratz on the Curly Q Hunter man its a beauty , kinda wish it was mine though ;)
My favorite would have to be my African Blackwood Hunter in 01.

I have finally realized why I can't find a "second" hiking buddy I like.... Because the first one I bought is the MOTHER OF ALL HIKING BUDDIES.... Just sayin'
I have a Marron linen Alabama Damascus steel. It's at least a quarter inch longer than any other I have seen.... perfect size! All else just pale!

I have a bolstered, tapered tang camp knife that is arriving tomorrow, that one's gonna be hard for me to top as far as nicest fiddleback goes.

My nicest Fiddleback is sitting in a box in the Post Office on the way to VA. I guess that means it's not mine anymore.

After that, I guess my nicest is the Camp Nessie in Shadetree Electric Orange. I love the style. The handle fits me perfect.

I was wondering when that one was going to surface. Congrats man; a real beauty.

Thanks man, I'm flattered; she'll be a keeper.. Only dupes I have are the profiles I love; woodsman, kephart, and sneakies. She will be well used and already has fresh heber leather waiting for her.

wait, what?

I feel I have no option but to take this as a compliment.

So, for now you have my favorite two very nicest FBF pair

Fod does amazing work with resin and burlap. Absolutely first rate. If I had those two, I'd never ever let them go. Congrats on a stunning set!

Sweet curly. I love the look of them, but I'm afraid it would get in the way in use..

My nicest single knife:

Close to a tie these two

Nicest pair (ignore the Leatherman)
