i am sooooo excited by this!!! i have always wanted a Ninja To and was thrilled when i learned Master Smith Wally Hayes would be back at the CKG show as he would be the perfect guy for the job..as i wrote in my show review, not only did i order the sword, i also ordered two knives him...i got "the call" that my sword is ready and Wally is working on the scabbard with hidden compartments.

i hope to pick it up next week!

Wally sure came through, and quickly too! Congratulations RL.

I'll be very interested to see the scabbard and the hidden compartments.

Not a big fan of Ninja To ......... but I'm a big fan of Wally's :)

Great piece congrats

IMO a misconceived design , a lot of people talking of rolling onto their backs with that sharp hilt ooo ow.
Its a concept design and if you rolling around with it on your back in 2013 get a mall ninja To .
Nice work will you be putting the other knives up ?.
What's the steel used also thanks :).

Robert! Very cool.
I love the Ninja To. To the Ninja, it was also a tool.
wuts the BL?

Better learn how to use it properly now, Robert.

It is an impressive and capeable weapon...Wally does not build toys.

Steven- Do have one?
A friend has a Ninja To from Hartsfield. Red tsuka.

Thanks Rob, and this was a blast to build and your right Steven, it is all real, !
Best wishes, Wally Hayes

Uhhhh....where would you come up with a question like that, Rolf?

I don't, nor would I, own a Ninja to.... the styling is counterintuitive to an ancient Japanese art form that I have studied for over 12 years....that said, I can appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into the item.

Steven- Well, the Ninja To is a classic Japanese blade. The Ninja just used them differently than the Samurai. It is an ugly-beautiful sword.

Stephen Hayes, one of the world's foremost practitioners of Ninjitsu, saw my sword on Wally's facebook page and had this to say:

"am preparing to leave my house to fly to Japan, and I see this sword photo of yours, Wally. That is exquisite! So well done."

nothing beats his endorsement to me.

Robert- I might ask William to make me a Ninja To in Ti. Just for the heck of it.
Enjoy your sword.

the throwing darts go in the bottom compartment (that's one reason why Ninja To scabbards are longer than the blade)..more from Wally...i will post a full review including pics and hopefully vids of a shop tour when i go pick it up from Wally this weekend.

"very hard to heat treat with temper line and hard spine also, and keep straight ,very tough blade"

"I hardened the spine and left the middle soft so it is very tough"

"the bottom compartment has 4 rods for indexing and 4 rare earth magnets and a collar press fit to hold the end of the sheath on. next one will be hinged I think, what a blast to make"

The steel comes from Germany and is souced by Aldo Bruno of New Jersey Steel Baron
