My not so big modification

Hi everyone.

We ripped out some shelves this weekend and some of the corners were made of Kiaat (local name) wood. I used it to make a back spacer for my seb. Took some time, but it fits snug. No glue or anything. The ends I sanded down a bit to much so it is not perfectly flush with the handle, but I think I did ok.

Your opinions are welcome.

I like that look a lot! How's it secured? Tension, or is there some hardware that goes through it? I may have to try that out when I get my own Sebbie, and start modding it.

Adds a little class. Nice.
I am guessing you curved the ends to fit the spacers, and that is how it is held.

Thats a simple but very practical mod actually. Nice job!

Eliminates the problem of coins getting stuck in there.

I've ALWAYS thought that a backspacer like the wild be a GREAT accessory for the seb. I'd LOVE one in Ti or even aluminum.

that looks really great! it would be an awesome option for any of the sebs with the wood inlays. Nice job!

That was the original idea, but I did not have the time or the equipment to do such work, the blade of the seb comes quite far into the handle and found I could not get the wood to be just right around the front stop pin without the blade hitting the wood constantly. So It is just straight at the front, but does curve some what at the backspacer.

Further it is only held by tension. Has not moved a mm since I installed it so it seems tension is holding it well in place.

a pimp mdder could drill small holes into the inside of the slabs and usenpins to securely hold it into place...

I like it. Let us know how it is after about a month of EDC. Time will tell.

Muninga is the other name for kiaat or bloodwood. Thanks Jos for his images of his mnandi's in the folders thread. Well its been a month and some feedback. It is still held in place by mere tension. After all the edc it has seen water, been dropped and has seen a hike. No problems. I still like it a lot as it gives it some gentlemen folder type feel and it works for me. I also enjoy that it is no permanent modification so I can take it out if I feel like it.

That is the best mod I've seen. I had drafted quick sketches to do it with Ti but was not doable. May have to get the drawings out and look at some wood. Great stuff.
