It’s a newer spartan with the pin hole but I have had it for several years, shiny red cellidor scales, what makes it an oddball is that the Swiss cross isn’t metal, but rather painted inside the stamp like the nylon handled varieties are.

Anyone else ever seen this?

Did they run out of metal crosses that day, or did it jump ship on the conveyor belt to the nylon scale side for a stamp and paint treatment?

I have a Huntsman with Cellidor scales and a 'Hot Stamp"(?) logo.
Made from 1999-2005 going by the tools and blade markings, other than that I have no idea. 🤔

To refer to SAKWiki the pin hole was introduced in 1991. Cellidor scales with painted shield existed until 1994, maybe longer (depending in how the shield / cross looks).

I have many saks made in the early to mid 2000s without pin hole, when did it become standard?

I don't know. I thought since early 90s then.
They put it on 84mm and 91mm models that come either with corkscrew or phillips head screwdriver.
I don't know the year when Victorinox did that exclusively. Maybe they had tons of older scales in stock?
Sorry, can't answer that.
