This is one of my favorite knives. I've had it since I was 14 years old in 1975. Both knife and original sheath are still going strong.

Thanks! On the sheath, I occasionally fill in scratches with black oil dye to keep it looking sharp.

The 105 has the distiction of being the knife that has been in Buck's line the longest. Called an "all purpose knife" back in the 40's, it was the most popular model then. Still going strong today.
YOurs looks to be in pretty awesome condition! I guess that means either you really take care of your equipment or, your a bad hunter?:D
(for what its worth, I have a few knives in great condition and I dont take care of my stuff all that well so what does that tell you about my hunting skills? ) :)

Thanks for sharing!

Joe,

A few years ago, I sent this knife back to Buck to have the handle polished. I gave the shop strict instructions to only polish the Phenolic because the guard and pommel have a beautiful patina. Anyway, they did exactly what I asked and I was very happy with the result!

Never really did much hunting with this knife - just a few squirrels and rabbits in my youth. Today, it is mostly used for camping and in the kitchen. It was a gift from my parents, who are now a healthy 82, and it is certainly one of my prized possessions. Thanks to Buck for designing such a timeless classic. :)

Very nice 105 you have there. My 105 is my go to fixed blade hunting knife. I have tried others but like the 105 the best.

Yep, the 105 blade does exactly what a knife is suppose to do - it cuts and slices. Call me old fashion, but I'm just not into chopping or batoning with a knife. :o

That is an awesome piece of cutlery that should last your entire life. Way to go in keeping good care of it. Thanks for the photos.

You are not old fashioned at all, you just get what a lot miss, knives cut things. It make me nuts that some folks use them as impact tools and then whine when the break their knives. Oh well, you have a great knife, enjoy.

That knife looks great. I'd have been thrilled having one like that when I was 13, and it'd warm my heart to still have it today.

(BTW, I too was 13 years old in 1974. :))

The 105 was my third "real" knife. First was a 309 at age 10, then a 112 at age 12. Still use all of them today. I guess my dad liked Buck.

Happy 50th this year! :p :)

You're a lucky man. I've been 'catching up' on collecting some of my favorite Bucks that I couldn't have at that age (307, 110, 112, 119, and a few others).

Happy 50th this year! :p :)

Back atcha! :)

Yours is in better shape than mine, which I got in the late 60s. But I agree. It is one of my favorite knives. I have always found that the Pathfinder design worked better for me than my 119 Special.

Yep, I agree. I think it's the perfect length and width of the Pathfinder's blade that makes it so practical for general use.

I have a 120 that my grandfather gave me for Christmas in 1969...like your 119, but even more so, sadly, I never found it very useful. :(

You'll strap it on if the shit hits the fan, though.......

:D

Just hang it on the wall in your den with a sign.......

I have one that my parents bought for me when I was in the Boy Scouts, about the same time yours was purchased. I took real good care of it.
