A couple of things first. If this is in the wrong place sorry. Point the way. Also I have done the Google thing. I am looking for someone with knowledge that can speak directly or show me somewhere not so evident by a few keyword searches.
Now. I have had this old Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife forever. I bought it at some yard sale or something like that, I can barely remember. I was maybe sixteen and I am 42 now. Been packed away until I dug it up recently. I know(well pretty sure) it is genuine and has some value. I also know that there is a variety. I am thinking of selling it but obviously want to price it right. I don't want to lose out nor do I want to ask too much. As far as describing the thing. There is a lot of patina on it. There is a little bit of stain that I'm sure could be cleaned but I don't dare touch it knowing attempts at that could do more damage than good. Other than the engravings on the blade, there are no other marks or stamps. I do have the sheath but it is missing the part that attaches to a belt. The part above the hilt/hand guard. If you can offer anything on this old horse, value, history or point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate.

You have one made by the old Wilkinson Sword Company in London.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TRY TO CLEAN IT WITH ANYTHING BUT A CLEAN & SOFT LIGHTLY OILED RAG!!!!!!!

It is NOT a tourist model. Wilkinson is out of business now, but was a major name in British swords for a long long time.
I was allowed to wait in their showroom in 1975 while they assembled one for me. The red locking compound on the handle was still wet when they brought it out to me, and I still have it.
