Thanks for the very instructional video. Learned a lot! Where on earth does one find such wood? I'm new to this craft and addicted. Love wood! Especially enjoy the Blackwoods. Osage. Dig around flea markets? thanks again. Frank

You find them at Greenberg woods, and other knife specific wood suppliers, like AKS, USA KNifemakers, etc. There are usually a lot of wood sales in The Exchange.

I doubt seriously you'll find much in the way "good wood" at flea markets. Perhaps some "homebrew" type stabilized woods made by soaking in something, but not "real" stabilized woods. Talk with Ben - he's got GREAT wood.... and sometimes Ben's got wood I can afford to buy.

Flea markets wouldnt be the place, for me at least i try to make sure all my woods come from the people who cut down the trees!

I would like to know more about the different patterns you get from medullary rays.

Thats a good idea!

I actually have an idea that goes into how you can angle your handle scales for optimal curl and figure, which sometimes people dont do. I think I could work in information about medullary rays into that!

I just graduated with my degree and Chemisty, and after my lease ends in June i will actually be going full time at this! I will probably get a dealers membership again, but I am looking into offering much better bulk selling options, things like mystery boxes. A lot of the cost for the woods is things like the extra sanding, buffing, photographing and listing of each block. When I sell them as bulk/ mystery blocks, and can leave them at a clean square 80 grit finish I can keep prices much lower!
