The only thing so far that I do not like about the Carnivour is the release lever. It is plastic and no more than I have opened and closed the knife it is already wearing down. Is anyone else having this same trouble?

Thats the best Zytell we can get. Wearing where. We have cycled the lever ten thousand times and they are still going strong. Let me guess you suffer from CKOAS (constant Knife Opening Addiction Syndrum)

Some days it's not worth chewing through the restraints and escaping.

You are correct I do suffer from chronic knife opening syndrome. The little grooves are wearing smooth. Probably just cosmetic, but I just wanted to make sure.

I've gotten used to closing it with my thumbnail. This has been the cause of the wear and tear on mine. The damage so far has been nothing more than several tiny dings. My question is, is this a recommended practice? Or for the sake of preventing wear, I should use my thumb pad from now on? Or doesn't matter either way?

I've been playing a lot with my Pioneer. I've not noticed any significant wear on the RL switch. But then it's only been a month.

"CKOS"
(constant knife opening syndrome)??????
Yes,I most certainly have it.
Hope it is not bad for my knives (Pioneers, Sebenzas,Klotzlis,Cubs,BM's,Socoms)as it is a large part of my enjoyment.
Nothing like fluid movement when it comes to something mechanical

How else would you be able to open up your blade with either hand if you don't practice?!

I do it in the bathroom if there isn't any good reading material, or sometimes driving down the road.

I think the REKATs LOVE to be opened as often as possible - they are pretty smooth, aren't they Bill and sing?!

I wonder if I am going to wear out my Kydex sheaths from drawing the knives in and out?!
Hmmmm......

I think if there's one place in the world that I *don't* practice my speed openings, it's when I'm sitting on the hopper

I seem to remember a Darwin award (or news of the weird) from a few years back about a guy who managed to work his way out of the gene pool during a whittling accident while going #2

TomMaker,

No, not speed opening

- just opening up the blade at a normal rate to get more comfortable with the mechanism and closing it one handed.

I go for fluid motion and mechanics over speed. I the motion to be second nature and not have to think about it. It helps to carry the same knife all the time: tip up/tip down can drive you crazy....LOL.

Bathroom is the only haven I still have while my toddler is awake

LOL....kids get into EVERYTHING!
