My only complaint as a new sebenza owner

I took off my clip and like the feel of the handle better. But I'm confused by the pricing of the clip insert. The clip insert to fill the hole when the clip is removed and it's screw are $21. While a whole new clip and screw are only $10.50 . The clip takes more material but is less expensive than the clip insert ? Plus their shipping charge is $7.50, total $28.50 for that small item? I want one but not that much.
So far this has been my only complaint as a new sebenza owner. I like it so much I used it to cook a stew the other day just for the fun of it, even though I have nice kitchen knives.

chickenfried, i like your handle! i use that term to describe burnt cars i see on the freeway. i know what you mean by cooking, i havnt used a kitchen knife in many years.
i didnt see a location in your profile,but if you are near a knife shop at all you may be able to get one through them and save the shipping. just a thought. also a store may ship to you for a little less than flat rate. I bought mine from Wright knife in La Meas ,Ca and for a small item he usually charges 2 or 3 $$ for a mailer and postage. some one in your area may do the same thing if you ask.

Why not ask the folks at Chris Reeve Knives about their pricing? I feel certain you'll get a polite, plausible answer....at least! Who knows what else they might do???

My understanding is that the insert is made in small quantities, and probably requires more handwork even though it is smaller. I don't think they ever wanted to make the insert in the first place but there were quite a few members of the forum that requested one repeatedly. The clips themselves are produced in much higher numbers than the inserts which would lower the price.

I think Ann has answered this question at some time in the past also, but can't remember with any certainty.
