My Original Style Leatherman Wave (Plier failure)

So when cutting anything harder than copper with my Leatherman Wave pliers, (such as a coat hanger), I notice some pretty serious rolling and marring on the cutting jaws, resulting in either A: a set a pliers that don't close all the way or B: Once closed, refuse to open.

While I've noticed that Leatherman has decided to create hardened inserts for different models, I wonder if there is any way to remedy my own set, due to the fact that I hate the newer styles.

Anyone else think I'm up a creek?

If what you are cutting is burring the cutters, then it is either too hard or you plier head isn't heat treated quite right. Coat hanger shouldn't really do it, so might be your pliers in particular. Leatherman will gladly replace your wave, but you'll get the new style most likely.
