So I loved my Phaeton with the clip point blade and the aluminum handle. sure the grip was a little boxy, but it did everything I needed it to.
so after three years of carry the clip got worn and it started to slide out of my pocket. well I lost it last week so I was going to buy another.
them I saw the Shootout, I liked the size of the grip and it had a clip point blade that I like for work. So i bought it. Received it today and Im not really sure how I feel about it.
The handle feels flimsy, the thumb slide is pretty high, finish is ok and the blade is real thin.
Im still gonna use it as my EDC but honestly I get they were trying to make a light knife but I don't see this lasting long under normal conditions.
If your looking for a good OTF buy the Phaeton.

Thats what iv read, and I hope so because I use my knife multiple times throughout the day. But Benchmade hasn’t let me down yet so I’ll give it a go.

I used my first shootout as a work knife in some of the dirtiest crud imaginable, and with minimal cleaning, and it held up better than I ever imagined. One spring did finally fail-after the handle was basically packed with tar/dirt/sludge for a week straight. However, I liked it enough to pick up a new drop point, and I just got in some springs to hopefully fix my original

Where did you get springs from?

I picked up some microtech utx-85 springs, I read someplace that they are basically the same. Eyeballing them they look right.
