i dual wielded these and went to town on this overgrown hedge. worked pretty well. mostly used the squatch, though my mofo cuts better at the moment. hell of a lot more work than an electric clipper, but so much more fun. after pic:

i still hate mag handles. they just don't fit my hands. but i love the squatch. it's an amazing blade. bigger than i thought it would be. i think i'll send it to the shop to get a coating and some standard handles.

Hey bro, you could always start sanding that micarta to fit your hand...

You've got nothing to lose, if you screw up just go back to the original plan and send it back to the shop for some new ones. But you might end up with a "custom" fit that works better than standards (I'm not even sure they have standard scales for the squatch?)

just a thought...

that's a good idea, but i would also have to figure out how to do that for the fasteners too, which i'm not entirely sure how to do

I'd just leave the scales on and start sanding slowly. I really doubt you'll have to take them off. Just keep another knife you really like close at hand and try to mimmick the scales of that one (like the mofo.)

The only downside is you will love the aggresive texturing pattern, but there are other ways to ensure "grippiness."

I'm sure you already know, but don't breathe the micarta dust, it's extremely harmful stuff!

Good job with the blades.

I really like the 'squatch too. I've got to get mine in a workout soon.

I've considered sanding G10 and had a knife maker I trust tell me to sand it underwater to eliminate dust issues. Maybe someone else can chime in here...
