Here's the other Auto Folder I acquired form Don's offering. Was actually my first choice, but had already been sold when I initially contacted him.

Beautiful bluish-green Mammoth scales, flanked by a front and back fluted bolster of “Explosion” Damascus by Devin Thomas. 18K Gold release tab and screws. Heavily carved blade of “Wave” Damascus by Eggerling. All liners filed. Backspine fully carved and filed.

Specifications:
Blade Length : 4 1/2 inches
Overall Length : 9 1/2 inches
Blade Steel : Wave Damascus by Eggerlilng
Handle Material : Fossil Mammoth Ivory
Bolster/Guard : Explosion Damascus by Thomas

Thanks for looking.

You are DOOMED, but that is a wonderful way to go!

Kevin, Not only have you caught the folding knife bug, you are spreading it. Last week I got a nice Fisk Arkansas Camp knife and a Phil Wilson CPM10V Chef's knife. My knife fix was satisfied for awhile. But after seeing your second folder posted I decided to go to Don Guild's excellent website and check it out. What do I see but a 4" J.D.Smith MS Brownlip pearl and mokume folder. Since I collect JD's knives, I now have this knife on it's way to me. Who knows how many other people you have spread this bug to? Jim Treacy

That's a nice one Jim.
Perhaps I should start getting a commission from Don ;) :D

Thanks guys for all the views and nice comments

Kevin, that knife IS magnificent!! I positively adore the blue-green of the mammoth ivory.

Congratds to BOTH of you guys. Again.

Jim, that folder was mislabeled as Bill Saindon's, and Barbara Guild asked me to change the name over. I don't know how that got by me, but that's how it was initially presented to me. Within an hour of relabeling she tells me it sold.

Folders call out to me to inspect and operate the mechanisms. They have a distinct feel at the start of the opening, the swing out, the lock, the unlocking, swing in, and the close.

All of this is part of the 'experience' that folders provide. How does it look open--how does it look closed? Is the blade centered, etc.

There is a lot to ponder and embrace for such a simple mechanism.
