I finally have a website to call my own. I know there are some blanks to fill in and I found out that I would rather make knives than a web site but I think Mitch Lum did a great job on it so far. He wants to take some shop pics soon so I need to sweep up first. Let me know what you think and tell me what would be an interesting subject for it. Would you like to see gun/knife pics? Maybe what they look like on the inside? There are so many great tutorials already that I dont want to do any duplicates. Give me your thoughts.

Thanks for looking. Bruce

It came out real nice, Bruce. Mitch did an excellent job.

Bruce, it's a great start to a great site. You're on the right track. Yes, I think some info on the "inner workings" would be good. I really wish you'd eventually put more info about the damascus making process, maybe a sort of tutorial with photos. Not enough to give away any secrets, etc, but something for us aspiring pattern welding amatures. I like everything about the site. Is there really 3,000 layers in the first knife/pistol? If so, Wow!
Anyway, it looks great to me!

your front page says

You are guest#01103
since 7/23/2004  isn't that next Wen. :p

looking good you may as well be a webmaster too Bruce it will give you another reason to put you hair out.. :)

the insides of the cut and shoots and aaaall your secrets :D

Looks good! I know what you mean about rather be making knives instead of messing with the site. I need some major updating done on mine but I'd rather make knives. Hope it works out for you!

Hmm, looks like the date is wrong. We started the counter at 1000. You guys are the only ones that Ive told about it. Thanks for looking.

Yep there really is 3000 layers in the pistol/knife blade and matching bolsters. There are so many it looks like marble instead layers. The nickel in there caused it to turn brassy colored in the hot bluing process. I could photo the next cannister from beginning to end. I want to cut thin wafers from the loaf and san mai them to a HC center. That may be worthy of putting on the site Ya think? Also taking some shots of the Axe/gun in progress. The only trouble is I dont know how to post the pics and have to bother Mitch all the time. Maybe I can learn. It hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Great website Bruce.

I like the easy navigation and the simple clean layout. Oh yea, the knives look good too. ;)

Very nice site! Clean, good looking, easy to navigate.

I really appreciate your showing both of your complete sets of test knives on the site. It really shows both some of your evolution as a knifemaker and what it takes to make these grades.

By all means show more in progress pics of the axe/gun. Cant wait to see how that baby turns out.

Yes, please! I'd love to see that process Bruce! I can't help you with posting pictures, haven't looked into that yet, but will see if I can help. I'm 54, and people are teaching this old dog new stuff every day :) I'm thrilled about all of this! Many thanks!

Very nice -- I didn't know you made some folders too! I too would love to see some pics of your work in progress.

Bruce,

That is a great site. It loads fast for me too. You seem to have a good server.

Beautiful bowie you have for sale on the site. I did notice something though: where it says 'blade from Rex Walter'; I think it should say 'blade steel by Rex Walter' since you are the one that ground it - not him (I presume?). Is it a collaboration?

RL

Rex Walter sells 52100 steel. Its the same batch that Ed Fowler uses among many others. I love the quality of this steel. No collaboration, I forged it and ground it myself. Thanks for looking.

Bruce, I went back to take another look to be sure. The way it reads it makes the prospect, I believe, think that the blade is made by Rex. You made the blade, he provided the stock. I believe the line above that one that explains where the stock came from explains all that is needed about that. Forgive me. It is just my marketeering coming out.

It is a well done site. I wish I could write HTML code that well.

Bruce, have you ever considered making a video from the very beginning to the finished knife? Wouldn't have to be fancy or with editing, just a home movie type of thing. I'd sure buy one! All you'd need is someone to stand with the camera, and you'd hollar "start - stop" for the different sequences. Then just have the tape copied. Probably as easy or easier than putting the photos on the site, but we want that also :)

Bruce, you have a great site, and it shows some of your fine work that we enjoy seeing. It's easy to see why you are a Master Smith, Bruce.
