i got my pacific style bali from josh about a week ago and i think its great. So many of you have given it a bad name but i think its the best for its price, plus its heavy so it builds up hand strength. When my bm 42 gets fixed ill be able to flip it at a mad speed.

Anybody else think its a good bali? for the price?

I carried mine with me all day today.
Along with my 42...

I like mine too, but I think that I was lucky to get a real stainless handled one, not Zamack and Chrome plating...

I paid $60 for mine on the first auction on bladeauction, so I don't know if I got a good deal or not.

Especially since one of my pivot pins likes to spin independent of the handle it's set into.
I've tried to re-set it, but it still likes to spin. It doesn't want to fall out, though.

I like the weight, but not the gap between the handles, open.

I don't know?!?!?!

I got a bunch of those from Josh...and I'm re-doing them a little at a time (not my profession...hobby)...a really great Balisong for the $$$...nice balance, and lock-up (although the latch sucks)...when I can...( a few months I'll post some of my modifications to them. For "latchless" fans (I'm doing away with the latch)....they are realy nice for the money!!! (Made in China)...if that was a question anyone had?????

I could drive my PC #139 through a freakin car door if I wanted to. Those things rock. Mine is also still tight as a bank vault. The thickness of the spine on mine is impressive. Mine is Zamack, which I guess is die cast metal. Is this correct?

Yes Komondor, you would be mostly correct. Most Zamack procucts are a cast metal, as I said in a previous thread however, the handles on my Pacific Style Bali appear to be some sort of pot metal. There is no chrome plating over the original metal but this particular metal could be some sort of Die-Cast Stainless mix of pot metal much like the early "Machbox Cars".

I enjoy them very much and yes they are quite HEAFTY! Someday I will put my 239 Blade inbetween the handles to resemble an early B.S. Cutlery Custom.

I got one for 19$ on auction from Josh. It was from a batch that were "latchless" in that josh musta felt the crappy latch makes them hard to move so he took em off. I found a bolt that I took a grinder to...I made a nice latch, guessing the dimensions as I went, then finished it to match the sheen on the handles. The end product was so impressive that I wonder why I never looked into mechanical engineering

laters

I too got one from Josh on blade auction, should have waited though, now their going somewhat cheaper. It is a heavy bugger! and the latch is, in my opinion is sloppy:( and could be a whole lot better. i tried the latch fix with hard rubber, that seemed to help some. I was contemplating sending it back but I already took my lansky to it. Next time I'll wait for someone to post about a knife before I jump on it;)

I just picked one up at a knife show this weekend for $25. Its beutyful. Its nice and heavey and the pins look to be darned strong, and it seems there were some hasty corrections made at the last minute by the manufacturer. Part of the tang pin was ground on each side, possibly to offset the gap in the handles or the latch. The latch seems to be made of aluminum and has a hole drilled through it that had a rubber plug placed in it. Probably because it would not stay closed at all in the closed position due to a design mistake. Other than that, I love it, Its replaced my BM42 as my daily carry. Partly because it still has a tip and also, if I loose it or it gets confinscated i will be out 25 dollars, not 140.
To all you newbies, this is the one!

I got mine for 15 dollars :D

But I really had to thin it out and put a highly polished convex grind on there with my belt sander.

But I think that it is still too thick so I think that I might just take more off. And yes it is a good knive.
