Well, one of them. Sharpened it the other day. Sharp as a razor. Gave it a nice mineral oil bath. How did it repay me? Slipped out of my hand cause of the damn oil and landed on my big toe. Lot's of blood and it got the tendon so I'm going in for surgery tomm. Just got back from the ER. I was proud it was that sharp. ;)

Whoa!!!...Dan, that is a bit of a fluke hitting the tendon, I have a Pal EO and its always got Mineral oil on it as well!!
Good luck with the surgery my friend!

This sounds like a job for steel toe work boots :)

Hope it heals up well. Tendons getting cut are never fun.

That is some bad luck. One of my worst was due to an oily blade as well. Thanks for sharing the lesson, though: when handling oily knives, always wear shoes [and pants!]

Recover quickly, man.

Well, that must have been impressing to you - when the pain left and the blood was washed away...

Don´t forget: Never sharpen and oil a knife with steelcaped working shoes ;) :D Just jocking!
This must have been hurting very much. Sorry to hear about that. How are you doing right now? I hope your fine. And won´t get any infection.

Kind regards
Andi

Pictures to come. Got a cast on now. Thanks guys. Yeah, shoes are a good call. But man, that thing fell perfect. I wouldn't be able to do it again.

Hi Dan! I´m pretty sure, you don´t want to be able to do that again. But the devil never sleeps (as we say here in Germany). Maybe you´re gonna get up with my thought with the working shoes... ;)

Kind regards
Andi

Yeah, I'm not touching a knife without shoes on anymore. Went to the doc. He thinks surgery may be unneccesary (didn't get all the way through the tendon). Yes! Man, when I was a kid we played mumblety peg barefoot! Knives were probably duller than shit though. ;)

Thanks! I'm so stoked, they might not have to operate. Didn't cut all the way through the tendon, so we're giving it two weeks. I had major foot surgery years ago and it is no joke. Thanks for the positive thoughts guys. I'll put up a pic tomm. Wish I'd had the sense to take a pic of the bloody scene. LOL

Wow, it sounds like you dodged what could have been a more serious issue. Glad to hear they may not have to do surgery.

Was it one of those steel-liner EO? They tend to be a bit heavier.

Sounds like the time I was walking along the road leading to a pond near my house, tossing a rather large Bowie knife and catching it. I missed one time, and it landed point first on the second toe of my right foot. By the time I got home and took my boot off, I had a red sock. Wasn't quite as bad as what happened to you though, thankfully.

So now I don't toss knives anymore, regardless of whether I'm wearing shoes or not.
